Goat, i havent mounted it yet because im getting my Runner painted first...but i did a "test fit" and IMO it looks awesome and its the perfect size! Not too big or too small and no mods need to be made (unless its logical to actually cut a hole in the hood and allow air in but im not not sure if that would be good or bad). Anyway, the seller i got mine from ships fast and sells the hood scoops under different types of vehicals because its universal. If you want i can send you pic of it sitting on my Runner to give you a basic idea of what it looks like. Pep Boys sells a similar hood scoop for more than twice the price of what you can get it for on eBay.

I don't know rocket, I know what I said in previous responses, but now that I've taken another look at it, it seems to be just a little small.

Take a look at the pic posted in Jason B's post of his customer's ride with the carbon fiber hood (sweet!, by the way), notice the w-i-d-t-h of it ?

That's what I'm looking for and it's obvious that it has practical cooling applications due to the amount of air a large mouth like that would suck in, yet due to it's low stance, it's aesthetic application is likewise appreciated as it does'nt overpower the hood...perfectly proportioned.

p.s. Yes, it is logical to open the hood up as it would obviously serve to maintain a cooler engine bay which can only be a good thing.

I had to repalce my tailgate so I was looking for a new one at car-part.com and I think the 98 was a different green. At least I am pretty sure it is. Maybe someone can chime in and verify?

O'kay, a little clarification:

In the thread referenced by garrett1478, they were attempting to increase cool air flow into the air box itself, a gallant effort in and of itself but too impractical given real life driving conditions such as rain and snow or trips to the car wash, although props go out to Ontos for the comedy relief via the "straw intake method."

Now in this thread, we've been discussing the positive attributes of increasing the cool air flow into the engine compartment itself, not the air box, a completely different topic altogether, albeit a readily feasible and beneficial real life application that all underhood engine components would stand to benefit from as they would receive additional cooling.

Take a look at any 'Runner with an active hood scoop, such as the carbon fiber hood setup or even the new 'Runner's hoods, with the false grill removed and replaced to open it up of course.

well i did it. took off 4 bolts removed the scoop. drilled out the 2 rivets and removed the screen and "black background" piece. cut out the back of the scoop (rotozip) and filed it smooth (scratched the ˟˟˟˟˟ out of the front base like an idiot). found 2 nice black screws with nylon hardware and reinstalled the repainted black screen. reinstalled the scoop piece, time about 2 hours. looks the same unless your at the bumper, no pics.
results=3000HP gain results? probably wasted 2 hours and the scoop. shoulda used 4 straws, 2 on each side. any ways it is open and will probably let in more dirt (water, etc...) into the bay. as its flow directly over the throttle linkage, i will try make an aluminum deflector for it. i noticed it does let out a lot of heat after a long drive.
