When I did mines, I found that the E55s were the easiest ones to hack in. The E46s were a little brighter and a hint more blue on the cutoff but required a little more work because the way the solenoid is mounted.
Have you guys checked out this thread:

My question is this. I think it may have been asked a few times and I guess its a matter of opinion, but what is one of the "best" bi-xenon projector set-ups that would fit into the stock housing (without moving and or moding the airbox & battery)???
I looked on Ebay and there are a few bi-xenon projectors that don't appear to stick out the back very far. I don't think this would be that difficult to do. Just looking for the correct set up. Also, what about the shrouds? Is there a good one to use or do you need to fabricate??
TIA,
Paul

I think it just comes down to how you mount it in the housing. I can post pics of mines later on tonite if you like. The further in you mount the projector the more it sticks out in the back, interferring with the battery and air box.
As for the shrouds, it is required to cover things up. To me the shrouds weren't worth $100 for the Mercedes E-class shrouds unless you can get a good deal on them. I used a simple 4" to 3" pipe connector

I don't have much experience with projectors or HID technology, but I have done a LOT of research as I try and put my project together, and from what I have seen the TL is probably the most liked bixenon, but the porsche and murano projectors are also among the best. I decided to go with the porsches. They have a nice even light output and super wide beam pattern. I got mine yesterday along w/ the Hella Gen 3 ballasts and I can't wait til the holiday break to get started on this!
Hey Iceman, looks good bro! Now that I have my projectors I'm going to start looking around at Home Depot and Lowes for some shrouds.
For anyone who is really interested in doing this, check out www.hidplanet.com/forums for some awesome information. First check out the University section and it'll answer most, if not all, of your questions.

Technically, all you need is:
2 projectors (bi-xenon if you want to keep your high beams)
2 HID ballasts
2 HID capsules (bulbs)
2 shrouds (covers up the projector and makes it look decent)
and a wiring harness to make it all work.
Oh, and quite a bit of spare time to put it all together.

Yeah, he did a good job... although I am more a fan of the chrome look. Iceman used pvc pipe connector w/ chrome spray paint (correct me if I'm wrong) which is more the route I'm going. I am going to try to find something that is either already chromed or stainless steel so that it's a little more shiny. Home Depot, don't let me down...
