New guy here

Newbie with a rare 2dr
Hello everyone. I am from northern BC Canada and I just found a 90 2rd sr5 5spd 4runner with 160km on it 3.0v6 its purple and has cancer and the trusty broken rear window but all in all its pretty clean. This is my first Toyota, if you have info which i should know about feel free to fill me in. My dad has a 01 tundra with 140km on it (Yeah I know!!) and it still runs like new. So thats my motivation to get into the toyota scene. At the moment I am getting new juice in the truck (oil, radiator, diff, transfer, etc.), trying to figure out the cheapest way to fix that window and lookin at some new tires. Have it narrowed down to the Walmart special on the goodyear wranglers or the canadian tire special on the BFG Land Terrain tires. I also talked to this guy in kitimat who has made a custom 3" body lift kit that he volunteered to put on my truck for the cost of the parts ($30 bucks) and sell his used 32" swampers with rims for 300.

Hey,

Nice part of the country up there. My cousins are from Kitimat and Smithers. I do have a rear window that you can have cheap. It's just the shipping that is the worry. PM me and we can talk.

Steve

P.S. Are the salmon running strong yet?

welcome aboard! someone posted a little while back about replacement panels for the runners, fenders, doors and gates. use the search feature and check for 'body panel replacement' or something along that line. check out 4hummers posts, he may have been the person that posted re: body panels. good luck with the rig, you have some great country out there to wheel!

Right on thanks guys. I tried to post some pictures but they were to big. I will try and get a site on cardomain and post a link. I just bought some 31" BFG's this weekend and hoping to get a 3" body lift in before the snow falls here. But my #1 is fixing this stupid rear window so I can make use of the back. I hate crawling in and out to put stuff in. Oh yeah how much rust is to much. I went off roading and washed the truck and it looks like this rust is going to take off on me soon. What can I do to stop or slow down the process? I want to paint it but that won't happen til after the winter and I am affraid the salt on the roads will kill me.

Cool Runner.
As far as the rust goes I would remove as much rust as possible then get a can of spraypaint and cover it up. That should slow it down till winter is over. Anyone have a better idea?

Thats what I was thinking of doing this weekend. I hope it helps a little bit. The front quarter panels are shot though but I want to salvage the rest of it. I think other body parts are tough to find for this model 4runner. Don't be shy with the help. This truck needs some help.

Could always cut the rust right out, throw on some bushwackers, and paint them.

Would look good as new, and eliminate the rust. There isn't too much rust there, so it could work.

I thought about that but the body shop guy said the rust was on the back side and it would be easier to buy new body panels ($70/side) and paint them ($70/side). But I do want those on there next year. I know this guy here who is going to sell me some used 32" swampers with rims for $300. So then I would need the flares. I will take some better pics once it stops raining here and you guys will see the rust and my new tires. 31" BFG's....they fill the gap pretty good
