Need To Lift My Yoda....the right way??
Ok...so i just got my 97runner 4wd last week. It needs a face lift. I don't want anything crazy just want to run 285/75/16's. Ive read a boat load of stuff on the forums but nothing gives direct hit. but for now ill just be hang'n at college and want a buff ride. I am thinking about going with OEM Medium, but for the whole kit...about $600 (too much for a college student). That would be nice but im not going to be doing very much wheeling. If i got 2.5" spacers could i fit the 285's and save some money. Is it possible to get a whole spacer setup for Sub-$250 or so (with diff drop)???
Do i need more equiptment than just the spacers?
I wont be running a winch setup for a long long time.
Thanks......

The cheap way is to get spacers. Buy the 2.5" front and rear spacers from www.sonoransteel.com.
I would also order some Old man emu shocks as well.
Get the 1" diff drop spacer as well.
You'll probably be able to fit the 285s. If you get rubbing you can either do a little fender trimming or just stick a 1" body lift on there too.

So i could go either way then. 2.5 inch spacer or 2.5 inch coils and able to fit 285/75/16? Do i need to get longer brake lines or anything like that? Now...if you use a 2.5" spacer with a 2.5" new springs you'll have 5" of lift. Could you do that or is it just way too much strain on the drive lines. Thanks

Nah, you cant run 2.5 spacers and 2.5 coils unfortuently. Its just way too much strain on the CVs and ball joints... You can do a 2.5" susp and 2.5" body or whatever if you want.
2.5" of lift will probably not clear 285's completely. Normal driving will be okay but going over bumps (or if you did go offroad) will definetly rub on the front fenders.
No you wont need longer brake lines or anything.
Coils and spacers achieve the same thing, but the longer coils are just more desired. The spacers just pre-load your stock coil.

I have driven a runner with spacers and it was a TERRIBLE ride... A million people here will tell you to do it right the first time.... It wont be super super cheap, but it will be right the first time:
Here is your full list:
2004 Toyota Tundra TRD 4WD Front Coils:
48131-AF090 - right - Blue + Yellow goes on the passenger side
48131-AF100 - left - Yellow + Yellow goes on driver side
2004 Toyota TRD Tacoma Double Cab stock front shocks. Order two shocks.
48510-A9160 - Tokico TRD Blue
1995 Toyota FZJ-80 Land Cruiser Coils (Yes the front FZJ-80 coils fit in the back of a 3rd Gen 4Runner):
48131-6A570 - left - Orange + Orange + White
48131-6A480 - right - Purple + Gray + White
1995 Toyota FZJ-80 Land Cruiser stock rear shocks. Order two shocks.
48531-69486 - Tokico Black
Then you will also want to get:
1 or 2 3/8" top up spacers and extended studs for the front http://www.4rnr.net/suspension.html
1" diff drop for the front http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_ta...diff_drop.html
Drop panhard bar http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_drop_bar.html
or bracket http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_drop_bracket.html
Here is the whole lift kit at one simple price: system 1 is the one you would probably want even though you dont have a winch

Here is also prices on spacers:

Good luck
