That looks sweet. My buddy painted his grand cherekee wheel black. After a coule of trips wheeling they where tore up. The look good right after you paint them though. If you dont mud ride alot you will be fine. I think they would look sweet gun metal metalic. I think they make that wheel paint in that color also.
The black factory's look better and are a better wheel that the black steelie's in my openion.
hope it holds up!

Yeah, I have a whole slew of pictures to sort through. Some of them include close-ups. Hang in there and I will post some.
I think they turned out a little better than I expected too. The photochoppers really helped my decision to do it.

Rondo:
I think he had his black lugs leftover from his defunct steels.
EDIT after Christian's post below:
Blah, what do I know?

That looks pretty good!
Do they have a light graphite color?
For example, look at my bro's wheels
My dad's clearcoat on his wheels are toast. Maybe I will swap mine with his if there is a color like this!

I think they do have that color. I am also proud to say that the wheel paint is holding up very well. So far, 1 off-roading trip and a trip to the pressure washer. The only thing(s) not holding up well are the lugs. But I expected that. Trying to get paint to stick to chrome is really hard. I recommend keeping the lugs chrome to anyone who might try this.

I painted some wheels of mine awhile ago. I recommend that you do NOT paint over anything on the wheel already such as clearcoats or chrome. What I did was use an airline paint stripper or something along those lines to strip off anything on the wheel and get it back to just alloy or steel. Then I cleaned it off and sanded it until it was perfectly smooth. I then primered it and wet-sanding it again several times. Then I put on many light coats of gunmetal and finished it up with about 2 light coats of clear coat. The preparation took me a long time, but it was worth it knowing that I did a good job and wouldnt have to worry about chipping and having redo the paint job.

I think I might do this with my spare set of limited rims. Thought of an idea to have a lift on winters with my all terrains and have another set of rims for summer living in the city dont know if I would but I could use my stock, paint em black then sell the JAOS to get money for other rims.

Wow my car looks just like yours (same color, year) but my rear bumper is chrome and I dont have the signals lights on fender. My wheels are still stock alloy color. Great job on your wheels, I might do this myself.

Paint is holding up great. I have gone off-roading two times, including at least 40 miles of dirt road driving in Northern AZ.
I have not used the etching primer on the lugs yet - so yes, they still look crappy up close. As soon as the temps go down a little I might get around to it.
