Those subs would probably sound a lot better in a sealed box rather than a ported one and would still give you good thump but a lot better SQ. I have a single Type-x and the exact same amp in a small sealed box and I couldn't be happier.

I don't know exactly what you are looking for sub wise but I have a RF P1 10" that I picked up on sale here in town for $45-$50 and it only needs a small sealed box. But I am running pretty low power to it off a small sony explode amp and the factory 6 speaker tape and CD. Does a nice job.

I used to have a Eclipse 10" that I ran off an Alpine amp and my ex wife kept those when she gave the truck back. It was a nice little sub and I had had it in 3 cars. I never damaged it or anything even running 700 watts to it and it looking like it was going to just straight out of the box.

No problem, i told you that if you just tune/rework the polks you could get them working nicely.

And that box looks about right for the type-r's, don't expect too much from them. They are made to make noise, the Type-x is alpine good line.

The type-r should work fine for you for now though. just tune the crossover points and such and you can make them sound a little better.

A sealed box and type-r's don't mix to well. You have to have a good sub for it to sound good in a seald box. Your type-X would work fine, it is a much better sub but the Type-r are a lot cheaper and a sealed box would take a lot of SPL out and the SQ would still not be that great.

Even though i am a big SQ fan i think that his setup is about as good as can do with it. And better than i though it would be honestly.

Oh yeah, now that you have a system you need to learn some of the basic rules to using it.

1: NEVER EVER EVER play your system at or around your house, espicall if you park out side.

2: Never play your system when entering a parking lot

3: Never play your system when you are in the "wrong" part of town

4: Never play your system before you are about to park or when it would be easy for someone to follow you to where you will be parking

5: Did i mention NEVER play your system at your house?

Learn from my mistakes, i live in a neighborhood where a car break in has not happened in 10 years. But my system was stolen out of my truck due to me not following rule #1 in just a few months. and i only listend to is a few times too.

I would get a cargo cover for your truck real quick if i was you. Something to cover up that box in the trunk. I hav enot even put a new system in my truck yet because i am waiting to build a real hidden system so it wont be stolen again.

Thanks for the feedback...Theft is a big concern for me so I have a blanket covering the box up but that only helps with not letting the burglars know whether it is worth to break into my car by not letting them see what kind of subs I have because any idiot should be able to tell that that is clearly a box under the blanket. As soon I as come back from NYC Thursday i'm going to get a really low tint % in the back cargo windows and rear glass so that nobody will be able to see what I have...

I'm in highschool (don't really like admitting it) so I have a limited budget so this worked out the best for me...

JL subs are the cleanest sounding subs personally. I had 2 12w6's, sealed box, 900 watt amp, jl components and you could play the lowest nastiest bass and they wouldn't distort. You could smoke a cig or blunt, and the smoke would oscillate back and forth with almost a 3 inch amplitude. I've had them for 8 years and they now reside beside my couch! dual purpose coffee table/ surround sound. You can mount those crossovers inside the door for a cleaner install if you want. Just use some velcro with really strong adhesive and stick them to the door shells.

JL subs are indeed nice if driven by a good amp.

Only problem with them is that they are WAY over priced. But if you have the $$$ then they are pretty good.

What did you do during the speaker re-mount to stop the vibration?

I took out the gap that occured from using the supplied plate. I basically just screwed the speaker in without any bracket or anything, just the way it came and it fit pretty close the the hole. I only used two screws and there was no gap or vibration from this. Kinda hard to expain. But no te only thing that vibrates is the panel that holds the window buttons. Other than that everything is good!

The JL subs where originally my second choise after the Polk Reference Series sub but when I decided to get two, I had to downgrade a little. In later years I will most definetely upgrade to something better...
