My Milkshake keeps my Toy in the yard

Holy cow! With this being the very first post on the milkshake we need to sticky this so it doesnt happen to some other poor soul. LOL
Seriously? 800 posts and 190,000 miles and you opted to roll the dice instead of replacing a $140 radiator. This always confounds me.
Sorry for your bad luck but you cant say you had no idea it was more likely than not to happen.

So does this happen frequently on a lot of Toyotas? Or is it more prevalent on ones that are off roaded and worked harder than typical. I've been surfin the boards lately since I've been doing a ton of work on my bro's 03 Tacoma and came across this post. It's got a 105k on it and I'm doing the timing belt and water pump right now but I'll bypass the factory cooler and put in an external one if this is likely to happen.

grats on the rig! I've been obsessing on this subject for about a month now as I'm pushing 220k on an unknown radiator age. Ordered the 70264 with magna filter, 75 and 25 on amazon3 days ago.I almost went with the 70268 but for it is only another $10 for the 14,500 BTU xxx64 vs 13,000 with the xxx68. Also doing a trans flush, what fluid are people running? I'm hearing Toyota fluid is the best but I'd like to go all synthetics. Mobile? redline?

I've put 20,000 miles on my flushed and filter replaced only tranny. It operates perfectly, towing boats and trailers, long drives on hot and cold days. The engine however, blew a head gasket last week and is pieces at a machine shop having the bores inspected.
I ended up flushing something like 60 quarts of atf through it in a weekend and managed to save it. It took a lot longer to get all the mayo out of the cooling system and its that that I think caused the head gasket to blow.
