Woodbert,

The next time you take your Hilux Surf in to see your dealer, can you ask if they'll tell you the programming sequence to enable the "open all windows at once" and "close all windows at once" features for the remote control?

Maybe your Japanese dealer won't have a problem with revealing this information.

Thanks!

Chris in Boise,

I'll ask if there is a programming sequence they can share. I've been meaning to ask them to change a few of the other features on mine.

Check to see if the A/C compressor is running in this mode. If not, that's why it isn't clearing the windows -- nothing is drying the air.

John,

I'll double check it. I'm pretty sure I hear the compressor kick on.

Unbelievable but true, I went back to the dealer today that charged me $45 to change the settings for my door locks on my 03.
I went to the service manager with owners manual in hand, I explained my position, and he is having a check drawn up and sent to me no questions asked.
Have to give the dealer props in this situation.

same thing with my 3rd gen, the little cubby hole below the coin tray [ash tray] is such a weird shape and has a convex bottom so nothing will sit in it. it is angled forward down so everything slides out of it, it's just a POS that isn't good for anything accept creating something else I have to wipe down when it gets really dusty.

you know, I've been back to my dealer twice to ask about turning of the automatic DRL's and both times he's told me they can't be turned off, that is not a programmable option! they even got the knowledge-lacking service manager in on the conversation. Tomorrow I am heading down there with my owners manual opened to page 101 and I'm going to make him read what it says at the bottom of the first column aloud on the PA system. well, maybe not that obnoxious but he'll know I'm pissed!

Well, dropped the rig off at Thousand Oaks Toyota this morning for the rear seat rattle. At first they guy tried to tell me it was the leather making the noise and that they can't do anything. I told him to throw a tech. in my car and I'll take him for a ride. He agreed. We did not even have to leave the dealership, I drove about a hundred feet and he heard it. His comment. "How in the hell can you drive with that squeek back there?" My answer. " I have to crank TOOL up real loud."

I will keep you guys posted on the outcome.

I took mine in and they fixed the squeak... I took the TSB #'s for all the thing I wanted fixed.
They lubed the rails on the seats and it made the squeak go away (I actually thought some of it was inside the seats themselves, it wasn't*)
I complained about the exaust and Toyota's line is that it's normal. They won't even look at it.

The DRL lights are changed via the computer, to spoke with the service rep.. She said they would charge me about $36.

I totally forgot to try and get the codes to program stuff.

*For this problem they said they would have to take it to a trim shop, I couldn't wait that long and my ride had flaked on me.

OK. Here is the problem with the rear seat.

Apperently there is a bracket inside the rear seat assembly. They took it apart and found that the bracket that it is mounted to is rubbing on the inside of the body. The bracket itself is off by a quarter of an inch. They moved the bracket and reassembled the rear seat. I am going to go pick it up right now. So, we shall see if the noise is gone.

If possible can you snap a picture of the subject bracket so if we encounter the problem we won't have to crank Tool or Type O-Negative to drown it out, I crank them anyway but still.

The noise is gone. It's wierd. It's too quite now.

Keisur
If I knew what they did I would snap a pic. Sorry. I know they removed the rear seat to fix it.
