Well, finally finished my cargo box, with a couple of minor things left to work on. The frame was constructed with 1X1" pine, the deck is 1/4" plywood, and drawers are hand-built from 1/2" pine. There aren't any slides for the drawers, they just sit on rails that I built. There are two drawers, and a cubby at the end near the back seat. It was covered with cheap carpet from Lowes (there are still a couple spots I need to do/redo). I put tension hasps on the drawers to prevent them from rattling/bouncing out. The top is a cargo net from a Yakima Load Warrior- I'm still working out the attachment points, but it prevents things from bouncing around in the back. I'm loving the organized look, and it was a fun project to take on!

It was fun to build, although there was a bit of trial and error, since I didn't really have a plan to work off of. The main thing was building it so that I could remove it without dismantling it. There is a 1" gap along the edge, so with the drawers out I can tilt it a little and slide it right out. I don't think my apartment manager appreciated me using a circular saw on my balcony one saturday either

I did actually consider making them for others, now that I've got a rough plan of what to do, took me about two weeks, on and off.

hey i need one of those also my girlfriend keeps alot of clothes in the back of my rig for last minute events that come up anyways will you be giving the dimensions to anyone?

 

It looks like we both have 3rd gen's, so our cab should be identical. I'll be traveling for a couple days, but when I return, I'll take more pictures and photoshop the dimensions on them, and post for anyone interested. It was a bit of trial and error, but for the most part I tried to make it as light as possible, but sturdy enough to hold my weight (200 lbs) and my girlfriends- I'm hoping to build an extension so that when the rear seats are folded down I'll be able to sleep back there- easier than setting up a tent for 1-night trips. Look for the details on the box probably Thursday of next week!

I know it's been absolutely forever since this thread has seen any action, but do you have the scanned in plans? The ones you made pictures of aren't easy to blow up. Could you post newer ones? Or atleast scanned in ones? I would appreciate it! I have been looking for something like this forever, and yours looks beautiful! If only you were selling them, and lived in the VA area, I would so go and get it!
