But why get four wheel drive if you don't plan to off-road? That is a 4WD badge on the side, right....?

2WD, 4WD, off-road, 100% on-road, blah blah blah...

Who really gives a hoot? It's a 4Runner...isn't that what's most important, folks?

yeah it snows in NY and Im keeping the factory wheels that came with the truck for the winter. Offroad, there isnt anywhere around here to go offroad. The only place i can go offroad is on the beach 3 months out of the year with a special permit. Or i guess when they rip the streets up, its almost a gravel road. Why get 4 wheel drive because it comes in handy very often. Especially in the winter when the dont clear the street with 12 plus inches of snow for 3 days. I also do alot of traveling so its always nice to know you have it just in case. Plus the height of the vehicle is a great help. But i dont even know why im defending it, i guess it just gets on my nerves sometimes cause some of the people on this board are like its a 4runner and it should be offroad. I like what Bod_98sr5 said

2WD, 4WD, off-road, 100% on-road, blah blah blah...

It looks pretty good. At least the rims don't overpower the rest of the vehicle, they compliment it.

Do whatever the hell you want with the truck. You paid the $30K-plus for it didn't you? I'm going to keep using my truck for what I want, you keep using your truck for what you want. There, everyone is happy again.

impulsebrklyn,

Don't worry about it. That is part of customizing your truck, you do what YOU like and if other people like it they will tell you, like me.......it looks gooood! There are always going to be some people that just don't like some things. It is kinda like some guys like keeping their trucks dirty to make them look rugged, that is cool with me that they can do that, but it gives me the shakes, because I like a nice clean vehicle, like yours and mine. Don't even get me started on the people that take cars through car washes......with those brushes...... You did a good job and your ride looks great!!!

BTW, I finally got an exhaust tip like yours....

im getting myself a new tip, this cheap one i bought is rusting on the interior lip. Did you get one that welds on or a clamp on one. I wanna go get one welded on, just dont know how much it would cost. Midas or monroe should do it right? oh and whoever brings there car to a car wash should be shot, its like running sand paper along your car. Brushes are a nono, maybe one of those boars hair brushes otherwise just cotton towels for me.

Now whats the next mod??

Jaos rear bumper bar??
maybe a jaos center protector R

hehe

Very nice ~floooow~. It does goes well and doesn't look out of place like on most trucks.

Adding the Jaos stuff will bring it all together with the chrome wheels.

Yep I got the clamp on one right now. I had looked at one at an exhaust place that I really liked, but it had to be welded on. In order for him to do that he was going to cut off part of the pipe and I didn't want to void any of my warranty, just yet. I will have it done later.

I am looking and waiting on the JAOS stuff too. I want a brush guard with two lights on it, but I am holding off a littel while until there are more options out there.

Well, time to go apply the Griot's....

Looks SWEET! However, I don't think they would look great on my 03' Sport. The bling would overpower my cladding. I really wish I would've got a black or galatic grey Limited after seeing yours.

man, the more and more I look at it the more I like it.... Why criticize him about 4x4? The wheels arent permanent, he could always switch off those for the stock ones if he wants to go offroad or whatever. How much did those wheels run?

errrr....
I wasn't implying the non-validity of his truck because he doesn' t plan to take it off-road. I was just wondering why he'd have payed more for it if (like me) he planned to keep it on the street. My apologies for the riled nerves...seems as though this has come up before.

Oh, yeah, it does snow in new york. I keep forgetting about climatic events that involve ice. I'm in central Texas. I can't even get ice crystal to form on the walls of my freezer.

I can tell you this, those wheels wouldn't look good on a 3rd gen. The 3rd gen is too skinny for 20's, just like the ford explorer. for ex. to me. I'm not a fan of anything over 17-18 on a 3rd gen for this reason, (no, I don't need to see pics of 3rd gens with 20's). The 4th gen can definitely get away with it, since it's more boxy/wider from what I'm seeing in the pics. I would have to see it in person to confirm this, but I think my theory is right on the money.
