Just because of this post I took my muddy truck in to a do-it-yourself car wash thinking it would be funny, but when I got there an even muddier Exploder pulled in--no fun for me today, but my truck is clean

The Exploder owner must have gotten stuck to get all muddy. Blue

I've always just taken mine to a carwash and had at it. Never been hassled about it ever.

No bed washing?! Like the truck bed? Why would there be a problem with this?

I am going to have to look around the one I go to as well and see if there are signs posted up.

Even though I always wash my truck at a house with my own pressure washer, I'm going to get it as muddy as possible (I live in MD) and take it to a self serve car wash on a busy afternoon just to see the reactions from other people, and employees so I can finally understand this thread first hand

I never had issues taking mine even to the touchless drive through car wash completely caked in mud
I basically showed up yo the car wash looking like this:

I did get a dirty look one time when I told them it wasn't clean and I should go back through a second time.
Hey they shouldn't be pissed it was thier policy it gets clean the first time. If they don't like it they should change it oh well thier loss LOL.
Well even after a second time through I ended up going across the street and spending another $5 with the pressure washer underneath it.

they don't want people who just filled the bed up with grass clippings or debris to come in and wash all that crap into the bay because it clogs the draining system.

Edit: for ˟˟˟˟˟s and giggles i drove down to two of the car washes and heres the signs i found:

ABSOLUTLEY NO
Truck Bed Washing
Sheet Rockers/Painters
Dumping Of Trash
RV Dumping

That was the only one at this one, this is from the other car wash:

NO MUD, GREASE OR MESS (Circled with a line thru it)

And.....Up to 500.00 reward for info leading to the arrest & convection of persons dumping garbage mud, grease, hay, grass clipings, manure, concrete or gravel in the bays or property.
Washing engine parts and allowing oil, grease or antifreeze to go into drains is a violation of the law.

I'm pretty sure that my local place doesn't have any of those signs posted...but I will next time, might be pretty soon seeing as how we're supposed to get more snow Sunday night and they will be salting the roads again...nasty stuff.

Thats weird, all the ones near me usually say something to the effect of "No trucks, jeeps, blazers, vans, blah blah blah" basically anything other than a car should go elsewhere. I was bummed too cuz I had just gotten muddy, and the last time I washed my Runner off in my driveway, the ditch along the sidewalk was quite full of mud and kept water from flowing (the nasty leaves that were already there didn't help either).

My solution was to shovel up most of the mud into a bucket and dump it elsewhere in my yard. I'm still looking for a better plan and I was considering one of the quarter driven do it yourselfer carwashes when I happend upon this thread. I wouldn't want the $500 fine, so I'll be sure to read any signs before I do something like that.
