I haven't done anything like some of those stories.

My first mistake was having the headgasket recall done. I guess I thought that since I knew some people at the dealership they would do a good job. Boy was I wrong.

My next stupid thing was hitting that mailbox that jumped out in front of me.

Has anybody done this in a 3rd gen?
I'm sure someone has. You can do it too if you want. Just lock your rearend and pour some water and bleach mixed together on both your back tires. This will make more smoke and allow you to get your tires spinning more easily. Remember to watch your temp gauge because doing this will heat a motor up really fast.

Have fun

Dang... you guys can be pretty brutal.

I think the only thing I've done was playing chicken with a cop and then getting away while they tried to pull out of the ditch I left them in.

I was tired after a morning of duck hunting and put my 87 4runner into 2nd instead of reverse and rolled/drove it into a telephone poll. It didn't go more then 3 feet, I was pulled head on in front of it, but I knocked down my buddies wooden fence too. I didn't know I tweeked the right side of my bumper till I got home. I was embarassed about the fence. The sad thing is that I almost hit a deer that morning on the way out to his place at 5 am, it would have been in the exact same place on my bumper and I could have turned it into the insurance. I didn't feel comfertable lying then, now I kick myself

It's probably better that you didn't.
They might have found you out and that could really work against you...

hmm lets see

I once put a huge "kenwood excelon" sticker across my back window--that gave me a chance to fix my broken driver door glass 7 times before i took it off. that was in my 90 2wd

in my tacoma, i put a stupid ass ACT racing clutch which subsequently caught on fire!!! and burned 3 holes in my flywheel and screwed up my transmission. and then there was the whole thing with the FIPK which sort of fell off and got me a phat ticket. ( CA smog )

This actually happened on pretty flat ground, was sliding around and bounced sideways into a small undulation of this field, compressed the suspension so there was no where to go but over.

This was my brother, but a good story none-the-less.

We were running his 79 2wd around in some old sand pits. He decided he would jump this sand berm (It was shaped similarly to a skateboard quarter-pipe ramp - but not quite vertical at the top). He tries it once pretty slow (10-15mph) and pops the front of the truck up about 2 feet off the ground.
Next time, we expected him to speed up to about 20 and see, but instead, he goes balls out, 45mph, and launches this ramp.
We watch his truck 6 feet in the air, fly about 2 car lengths and land nose down in the sand.

The truck was shaped a bit like this afterward. \/ :pat:

Snapped the frame in two.

Hehe. It was cool though.

a group of friends and myself went to Western MD to do some camping. we thought it would be a good idea to play tag w/ no lights. upon blowing out my tire from hitting a tree, i realized that maybe this wasn't the best idea i've had. it was fun though.

a couple years before that, in a different pickup, we took this same trip. ths pickup had a shell on the back. after flying around thru the woods, the shell had it. i cracked most of the bolts and ended up having to use bungy cords to secure it until i got home.

Fiancee

I'd say the dumbest thing was letting my fiancee drive it the day
after we got engaged. She ran it off an Interstate and banged
up all 4 corners, the front and two doors.
$7500 later, I got a new paint job and 'Sport' hood, so I guess
it worked out OK.

I suppose, While I did no damage, the stupidest thing I have done was to take my new (to me) 4 runner out on the Sand dunes for a week of offroading before I had even made a payment on the truck. Hell, I could have been "Just like Mike"

Mud...

Two Thanksgivings ago, I got my 4Runner stuck in the mud. Dad had to pull me out in the Land Cruiser, but only after we dug for about an hour to get the 4Runner "unstuck". I had bottomed out... Dinner was really good that night nevertheless though!

I was visiting my friend at school and i was backing into a parking space. Going no more than 1/2 mph i tapped the guardrail with my driverside rear chrome bumper, shifting it 2 inches forward. Worst part was it was actually rubbing the tire and i had to remove it right there in the parking lot with a dying flashlight, 25 degrees and a girl i was bringing out to dinner that night. That's me... S M R T smart. That and getting stuck this winter in a snowy parking lot trying to impress my friends. Note....climbing snow mounds is fu, but be very cautious if your 4WD in inoperable.

And just watch your paint melt away. Bleach and paint don't mix

And don't run from cops, thats what "encouraged me" to get a new vehicle in the first place!
Dumbass

Doesn't look bad because the bumper was on "springs" but twisted the frame and broke the engine.

The stupidest thing i ever did was the first week I had my truck, I went offroading and had to turn around. for some reason i tried to do a 3 point turn instead of backing up, 6 dents later and 1/2 a sapling stuck on my truck, I was out.:pat:

I know bleach and paint don't mix. I didn't say pour it straight out of the bottle. I said to use a bleach AND water mixture. Just a little will do the job. I know you can do it without any bleach or water, but it helps you get the most smoke out of you tire. I figure it will also help get the tires spinning on a car that doesn't necessarily have that much power.

And don't run from cops, thats what "encouraged me" to get a new vehicle in the first place!
Are you implying that you ran from the cops and wrecked? Kind of like those people in the police chase videos.
