More Horsepower!!

2JZ-GTE......can make over 600hp on stock bottom end!!!! And they are a pretty straightforward swap...kind of expensive....but WELL worth it! If you are going to do the swap yourself, you might want to save up some money and buy another car too...maybe a cheap beater or something...while your other truck is getting worked on...because no engine swap is going to take less than a week or longer!!
3.4 is also good...fast easy...makes good power
1uz would be awesome...I am going to tackle this one once I graduate UTI (or when my engine blows up...whichever comes first...haha)
I personally will never put anything but toyota in my truck...its just a mental thing, but I think that if you drive a toyota...all the parts should be toyota!!

I agree. I'm actually purchasing a wrecked Lexus SC400 on Sunday (with 1UZ) to put into my 4Runner this summer. I can't wait for this one. Gonna be a 5-speed 1UZ in a 4Runner. :-D
I've heard that the 3.4L swap can be done (if you have the 3.0, same motor mounts) in 1-3 days if you have all your parts together.

Yeah i will definatly have to look into the 1UZ swap or other diesel options, i love diesel, i am a marine engineer so i work on them all the time, they are just "slightly" larger..haha

The problem you're going to have with the diesel engine is sourcing parts when something breaks. Think about it, they aren't produced anywhere within 2500 miles of a US border. Shipping costs would be terrible for parts. If Toyota came out with a diesel for their trucks in the U.S., I wouldn't give it a second thought, I'd be getting a diesel, but they don't. Regardless, good luck and keep us updated.
