more cb questions...
So I decided on the 75wsxt cobra cb... now for the antenna. I am trying to go with the completely stock look. Is there anyway to hide the antenna? Has anybody done this with succes? I have seen the radio antenna splitters... how do they work (I would guess not to well)?? How about mounting a firestick in the bumper or under the hood (does that defeat the purpose)? Any ideas (and pictures/links would be a big help!!!!) Thanks

Good CB, not so good ideas for the antenna. You've basically answered your own questions about the antenna splitter and mounting the antenna in the bumber. You'd basically fry the radio if you tried to transmit this way and you'd receive this side of nothing. Check out www.firestik.com as they have an entire FAQ section on antennas, wiring, tuning, and general CB usage. Also try the blinking green Search button for other ideas and info.

Goudy,
There's no way you can "hide" the antenna and make it work---at least to my knowledge. RW provided you a great link. If you REALLY want to understand the unexact science of CB radios, antennas and all the acronyms/lingo, definitely read through their site. Its gonna take some time, but you'll understand why members here did what they did with their CB/antenna combos. If you search the term "CB", "firestik", and "cb antenna", you'll learn alot too.
You'll be happy to know I purchased the same CB as you did. Here's my install: http://www.4runners.org/articles/cobra
Since that install, I moved the mounting location from the front hood channel to a rear hatch mount. http://www.4runners.org/articles/rea...tik/index.html
If you read the Firestik site, you'll understand exactly why I lost a little range with the new antenna mount. I hate spoiling surprise endings!
Good luck,
Bob

Another Cobra 75 owner. If you want to keep the stock look I would mount it the way Bob mounted it in the hood rail and get a quick disconnect, or just simply unscrew it when your not using it. Are you trying to hide it from someone or something? I did the same rear install except I used a moulded mount as I don't like to see wires. Mount Link . Running the Wire Link
