Mid size comparisons

Heres the side by side comparisons of the new 4Runner and other mid sized SUV's. It looks like the 4Runner would be the clear choice out of all 5 shown together.

comparisons

I'd take the Jeep. I hate when half the outside is plastic.

I'd take the Runner. I hate when my truck breaks down at 30k miles

Have the Grand Cherokees changed? What I remember is a large amount of plastic trim on the bottom of the doors, along with a massive plastic front and rear bumper.

I too would take the 4runner, but not from that comparison. The numbers aren't the whole story. Piece of mind, experiances with other brands, resale, and more awe big parts!

The Jeep sure falls short in the horsepower category. That I-6 in the Jeep has far less power than all the others and falls way short of the 245 HP of the 4Runner

Reliabilty is a given. Chrysler v. Toyota. hmmmmm....

I was going purely by looks in the pictures. I said nothing about reliability, performance, etc.

Doesn't the Jeep YJ still come with a 4.7L V8? with something like 230HP? ok, I just changed things around so it is a little more fair. Bumped everything up to it's best level (i.e. limited, overland...) and it is a much more even match. Jeep and Ford now have a 4.7L 265HP and 4.6L 239HP V8 respectively.

So, like me previous post says: It's not all about the numbers, as they can usually be manipulated in anybody's direction.

Here is what I canged everything to.

I know man, I was just kidding with you. It's just that I don't care if it looks better if I can't enjoy it because it's in the shop all the time. My dad was a service manager for a Jeep dealership, so I know first hand all the problems with the Grand Cherokee. No hard feelings, I just have a sort of dry sense of humor sometimes

I like the looks of the Grand Cherokee just fine and believe me, I don't think the 4R is some beauty queen but have you seen the two parked side by side?

The 4R has more ground clearance, the rear bumper is higher off the ground and the whole truck looks beefier than the Jeep. From the front the 4R kicks the Jeeps butt on looks alone (imo). Park them side by side and judge for yourself.

The only other thing I like about the Jeep is that SFA. The Jeep's V8 numbers might be up there with the I-Force but look at the torque curve to tell you the true tale of smoothness, pull and driveability. I-Force wins hands down.

I would take the 4Runner, too. I mean, it's a Toyota. I think my opinion may be a little different on the looks if the Runner was black/ black, too.
