Many Questions !
G'day Guys.......
here are some questions I'd like some answers for ! I have one main problem with my rig, it's a 92 Hilux (aussie version) but imported from Japan, these are fitted with 2.4Litre Turbo Engines, good little things but would be nice to have a bit more grunt, anyway......... i have recently, now that it is cold, been hearing a slight clicking type sound only for the first few minutes the thing is running and when i accelerat. I have taken it to a Specialist diesel Garage who i always use and trust. The have told me that it sounds like the cylinder head is corroding, apparantly, moisture gets in there and corroeds the head (which is possible in japan as it gets kinda chilly there). He said it's nothing to worry about now but I'll have to monitor it and the engines running temp.
He rekons a re-build depending on how bad it gets. anyone out there with a diesel ????? heeelpppp.
My second question is regarding Batteries. I'm still running normal toyota Batteries (duel setup) i have a battery monitor rigged up which shows that they are over charging, would an belt being too tight cause this ?? in other words put more strain on the altarnator ?? any ideas would be great.
One last question for anyone who has fitted those silver hoses over their radiator pipes, i am guessing we have drain the system to fit them hey ?
cheers guys, any info would be great.
Dan.

Hey Dan, G'day,
I know deisels are finiky in cold weather. I've heard that you need fuel additives to prevent gumming. Maybe it's causing your injectors to be noisey until the fuel warms up or thins out. I've never heard of the corrosion problem in the heads like you mention, but I don't know a lot about deisels. If you have a valve assembly like a gas engine, maybe your oil is a little thick when cold and causing a little lifter noise.
I wish we could get deisels here.
