Maglites - 3 or 4 D cell
Those of you with Maglites mounted to in front of your seat, what model do you have, the 3 cell or the 4 cell?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have mine mounted on the front of the seat frame on the driver' side. I got mine and the accessory kit (colored lenses, rubber front and mounting brackets) from:

Gonna go against the flow here.. But I have a heavily used mag-charger.. It has it's own mount/charger.. It is so well worth the $$ it is not funny.. The candel power alone blows the standard one away.. (I think it was 35,000 vs 70,000) Do your self a favor, save the $$ and buy the Mag-charger and you will never regret it...

Hmmm... It looks like it's 15,000 (4 D cell) vs. 40,000.. That's quite a difference.
So... the rechargable is using NiCd's... Do you see any issue with cell memory or a short(ish) shelf-life?
and...
CONGRATS ON THE TO-BE!

Sorry, I must of been off on my memory of the CP.. But still a huge diffrence and it it very noticable.. A friend had one of those huge monster mag lights.. I turned mine on and it whas like a natzi prison camp spot light was turned on.. He even shut his off and you could not even tell...
As for life, I bought mine back in 91' and I have only replaced it once... It still has about an hour use time.. Up untill last year I used it all the time working on cars (and had since 91') so it got heavy abuse... 100% recomended by me!!
PS, It has also taken falls off the top of tractor trailer roofs....
and thanks!! (did you see my "gues what post" It has been half an hour and more than a dozen people have viewed it.. Did they all miss that??

Yep, same size in daimeter.. (I can measure if for you with some calipers if you really want, but it will fit..)
You can also but a 120v charger instead of the 12v and charge it in the house and bring it outside. And, if you ever wanted to make it a 12v, just cut the cord and direct wire, it is a 12v input

Both are widely used by law enforcement and both (esp. Surefire) are used extensively by SWAT and Special Forces.
I have a small fist sized Surefire 6P in my truck and it lights up everything.
Price can be an issue but then again it almost always is when you're buying specialized quality products.

The main reason law enforcement has gone to streamlights is due to the fact they are plastic.. (storng plastic, though) The mag lights were too often being use as deadly weapons.. Personaly I like the heavy weight of the mag better..

actually, my local dept. does carry the metal framed ones but I don't think they'd use that as a weapon as long as they have their telescoping Asps

OK, I already had a 3D celll one and I did a test fit. It looks like it will interfere with the lever for adjusting the seat depth (4D will too). How did you overcome this? Do you remove it to change where your seat is? Not a problem, just wanted to know.
BTW, the 3D fits perfect on the passenger side of my 2000 JGC, will be attachhed to my Husky liner in there - I'm sure someone just had to know...

I think that some of the guys are mounting it on the floor pan versus the seat frame. Will it clear the lever if you mount it there?

I don't know if this will work in a 2nd gen, but here's what I did for my 97 runner. I got a 3D cell and found that I don't need to mount it. It fits perfectly between the driver's seat and the lower door panel. There is a perfectly sized little indention there. It never falls out or even rolls around. Even thru heavy off-roading. The only disadvantage to this location is that it is tricky to get to unless the door is open, but usually the purpose is to use a flashlight outside anyway. I just use the interior lights to see inside the truck. Check it out:
