Angry Lost a hella...

I was wheelin yesterday for the first time since I finished installing all my new parts on the runner (lift/tires/tjm/hellas..etc) and ended up finishing with ONE hella left on my bumper when i originaly had TWO . I believe one of them came off in this really deep mudhole because I had a friend following me on the trail and they never once saw the light laying on the ground in front of them...All in all it was my fault, as I hadnt properly secured the light to my bumper...the washers used were barely too small to cover the precut 1" gap on the TJM...When i mounted the 2 hella 500s they were very very tight but by the end of the trip they had both loosend, so I should have used lock-nuts

Anyways,
My main question is, can i buy a single lamp online somewhere? I've seen a few on ebay here and there but I was going to check and see if there were any online stores that carried the lamps seperately - I already have all the wires/switch and everything from the kit...just not the light assembly.

So, if you guys have any ideas, the help would be greatly appreciated.

I accidentally dropped one of my Hella 500 fog lights, cracking the lens. So I ended up buying a second set and have the 3rd lamp as a spare. Since then have never had a problem. Seems if you have a spare, you'll never lose or break one again

Hijacking your thread a little...

What are "lock nuts?" Sorry for such a newb question but just bought some Jaos lights and want to make sure they're on securely (more from the standpoint of getting them stolen then them falling off).

My truck is a street queen and will probably not see a trail but doesn't mean I don't want to protect my investment...

They are nuts with nylon (Nylocks) around the inner edge of the top (?) of the nut. Sometimes the nylon is red, purple or white, from what I've seen. Not sure if it's an indication of hardness/grip, such as the different colors for loctite. Once tightened the nylon helps a great deal to prevent it from loosening and backing off from the bolt/stud. They work wonderful.

back to the lights...

I like both ideas...get another set and either run 3 lights or keep one as a spare like 4Crawler said.

Sounds like an idea...I'll just go ahead and shell out another 60 for the kit i guess . One question though, the hella 500 i have right now is a road lamp...but after purchasing them, i realized i'd rather have fog lamps. So i think this time around i'll order a pair of fogs. However, if one of the fogs were every to break/get lost...causing me to have to install the spare (road lamp type) would there be a noticeable difference in appearance when they were turned on? Would one be brighter than the other and look tacky? Thats IF i had to replace one of the lights a 2nd time.

Any imput on that would be great, thanks again for the help guys.

It will be a little off, but don't worry about all scenarios. $60 is relatively cheap for lights. Mount 'em up and rock 3 lights. That is something I have alwyas liked about range rovers (built ones that is)

Or sell the single you have now. You know that someone else will need it sooner or later

yes the driving and the fogs are setup way differently and the light output would not be anywhere close to each other... also from the standpoint of vehicle aesthetics, they are different looking head on....

Speaking of Hellas. I am considering getting some for my '91 Runner. I have seen the bulbs for sale, but I was wondering if I need to buy new housings for the lights as well. Or will they fit in the original ones and all I need to do is swap the bulbs? Thanks guys.

If you have the rectangular (5x7) sealed beam headlights, then pick up a set of housings, I run the Hella Vision Plus:
but there are others out there. Once you have the H4 housing, you can swap bulbs as needed.
