Look what i did today, painted the grill, looks sweet UPDATE painted FLARES!!

I got bored today, and ran down to autozone and grabbed some 400 grit sandpaper, and some Krylon fusion for plastic.

Sorry the hellas are in the way on some of the pics, but i really like it painted black.

Before:

Sanded:

Painted:

After:

At lunch i went and got some more supplies and painted my flares. It gets me how fast black turns dirty, all that is from one day at work.

I would see it better if you took your lights and bumper off and send them up to me!

I love my grill painted, today I was working on my running boards. Those are black now also. Next weekend may be the trim around the wheel wells. I'm getting gusty so my front bumper will next on the list of things to dechrome!

Yeah paint the silver fender flares, i have them on mine and want to see what they would look like black. And you may have inspired me to paint my grill too!

I like that snorkel. Reminds me of a lot of the Hilux's and Prado's I saw in Australia.

Looking nice man, I may have to rip mine off this week and do it.

x2, on the painting of the flares. I'm not a big fan of the non-flare look, it needs something there and the painted flares help a lot. To give you an idea...

Before

After (old pic, but you get the idea)

Keep up the good work man!

That does look really nice. too bad my fenders were so rusty that my flares had to come off.

Granted, that pic is kind of a poser-shot....

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Skrillah and crolison both have nice looking rigs. This encourages me to look at painting my flares. My 4runner is dark green but my factory painted flares have taken a beating and now I'm thinking about shooting them with some black paint. I think it will look good with black on green. I guess we will see.

Thanks,

Wait till ya see her in May/June

Yeah i think black green would be a good combo, are they the limited flares? I think limited flares with the side moldings done black would be cool.

I'm in the middle of de-chroming my Runner as well. I think it's coming out pretty nice. I wasn't going to take pics will I get the wheel trim pieces done, but here are several. I got the running boards done yesterday and it was trying to snow today so I didn't do the wheel trims. I'll get those next weekend if the weather gods are willing. After that is the front bumper. I'll Huculiner it I'm thinking.

I would love to get some larger fender flares for it, but that wont happen in the near future. My rear bumper is more of a priority. It's dented and rusty.

Many Thanks. Personally, in the pics I think it kind of looks dorky with just the running boards black and not the trim pieces! LOL But trust me, it's not that bad in person! Oh well, it can wait a week before I get the rest done. Those are Pro Comp 7089 Wheels, 16x8.
