Limited Flares

I have a 1997 limited 4runner and the flares on the fenders are starting to fade pretty bad, the original colour of the fenders are a dark blue, but if i got them painted black would it look good? Not a glossy black, i know its a dumb question but i really respect the opinion of everyone on these forums. Here is a picture of my 4runner.

The colour of the body is '1A1' Anthracite Metallic.

Thanks for looking.

One of my flares is fading badly also. Makes it look like a cheap replacement part (maybe it is!?). I hit it with some good polish and wash and it came back a little. If you paint them, I would color match them...my $.02

herculiner

Definately herculiner. I did my flares, both crome bumpers, grill, door handles, and a line under my doors. It is sold at Auto Zone and other auto parts stores. Go to the Herculiner website (www.herculiner.com, i think). The $90 kit comes with everything you need to roll it on yourself. Also, buy the UV protectant or IT WILL fade. Super easy, but get some latex gloves...it's messy. I'm going to throw on another coat and do my cargo area in the spring.

i know what you mean whitey, the only problem i have with repainted them dark blue, is if they are all nice and glossy and once i go offroading i know something will scratch them up easy and ill be mad after i paid to get them fixed!

Spinnbait do you have any pics of your fenders painted with the liner?

Sorry, it's poor quality, but I assure you that it has held up to everything. A guy ran a red light as I was crossing the other way. I hit his rear side and only had to brush off some of his paint from my bumper.

It wouldnt take long, just take them off, scuff them up, and roll it on...be sure to get the UV protectant though, and they wont fade, plus it would be really durable

Looks really good so far!

Yes, you do need to sand the chrome first to give it a chance to get a bite on the metal.

Here was a good thread on the subject:
