Light switch with fog for tacoma

I've done some digging through the posts and can't seem to find the answer so perhaps someone can shed some light on this. I'm wondering whether or not its possible to swap out my current light stalk (on the column) with one that has an integrated fog light switch on it. I think some of the 3rd gen 4Runners have these stalks as does my 2001 Corolla Sport. Has anyone tried this on a Tacoma? I'd like to wire up some auxillary lights and keep a factory look. I already have a light switch (part #00550-35976) on order to go into a dummy panel I have but I need another switch for another set of lights and was hoping I could just swap in a new light stalk onto the column. Any insights on the feasibility of this are appreciated.

You might want to try PM'ing WaskillyWabbit on this one. I think he was going to put one his in 00 runner. He might have the specifics on how it works.

errr

Dealer quoted $140 just for the new column with the factory switch and another $60 for a relay! I bought a set of hella 550 lights and installed those with an aftermarket switch that goes through a relay. i also did this with the factory fog lights that i bought off ebay. For both of these i tapped into my parking lights so that everytime i turned on the lights, the fogs would also turn on. you also have a choice of turning them off too with the switch. I leave my stock fogs on.. and my hellas off.

I did this to my 4runner a long time ago. It is a plug and play application if your rig is prewired for the fogs like my SR5 4runner. Just remove the old stalk and put the new one on but make sure you put a relay in the relay box inside the engine bay. I bought the stalk for $65 when I was in Michigan 3 years ago. Just buy a Hella relay, it's about $10 I think. Here are some pics.

I've done the same thing in my 4Runner, got the stalk from a salvage yard. I don't think the Tacoma is wired for fogs since they aren't an option on any trim level. The fuse/relay box under the hood is marked for fogs, but I think that's because it is a shared component with the 3rd gen 4Runners. I know my '02 Tacoma SR5 wasn't wired for fogs from the factory.
