Hey,

I have herd different things about lifting vehicles. Please dont call me a moron for these I just need a true real answer.

Can you lift your truck, by getting longer U-Bolts for the suspention rods, and insert a (say you wanna lift 4 inches) a 4 inch peice of steel into the suspention rods.

I will take pictures soon and draw it in on my computer if you dont understand yet. It just sounds to easy and I dunno. Any info helping would be great . THankS!

are you talking about putting blocks between the leaf springs and axle? if so, it's pretty common, but not really the best way to lift a truck, since it will be more succeptible to axle wrap.

 

Its a pretty common method with alot of lift kits. However, you may only do this on the rear, if you want to be street legal, at least out my way (Oregon Washington) not sure about anywhere else.

You would be better off to buy lift springs all around.

 

I don't know if it's just a state law but I think you cannot go higher than a 2 inch block?

i've never seen anything come with more than a 2" block from the factory. i know most fords have blocks stock on most of their 4x4s at least, since they use a shackle orientation(spring eye is at top of the shackle compared to the bottom of the shackle like our trucks) that would require some really gnarly arch to get a stock ride height.

I think they came w/ a 3" block from the factory.

 

Ford F350's come with a 4 inch rear block.
F-250's come with a 2inch rear block all from the factory.

 

Rear blocks are common, Its the front blocks that I hear are illegal in Oregon. Considered a safety hazard, because there is alot more weight and steering on the front end. In a hard corner, or hard breaking, alot of twisting force placed on the suspension. Blocks only multiply this force, same concept as using a longer wrench to break stubborn bolts loose.
