Ya i was against street racing before this, now i actually become angry when I see it or even just careless weaving and speeding- there was a woman in a chevy
2500 the other day who was tailgating everyone and weaving through traffic at over 80 the other day...this woman was crazy...passing on the shoulders and just really being dangerous and selfish...Its remarkable how something like this wreck can change the significance of things to a person...It really bothered me.

Any potential lawsuit is going to be handled after I get my current insurance settlement closed, and is not being overlooked by any means, im just not going to delve into it on the internet.

Thanks for everyones support and thoughts...Im really very lucky and there are 3 other people involved who were equally not at fault whose lives are unalterably changed because of those two numbnuts. So pray for them if youre going to pray for someone..I have a way out.

ranma: ya I am still in the dfw area. That brush guard you sold me held up decently, lol... let me know what youre asking on your truck and what the mileage is...I may have something lined up already in the next week or so, but it cant hurt. Welcome back, eh?

First, Very glad you are okay...Hope all injuries have healed up...

Second. There is no "proper way to street race". It's moronic. Period. Don't share your stories.

Third...In this situation there is no such thing as being greedy...Mcdonalds coffee lady=greedy....I hope you sue both of them to the point they are living on the street(after the prison sentence)...From that point they will be able to start a new life, and also be given time to think about the henious nature of their crime and hopefully their new life will be a better life...If you are able to obtain a ton of money from those boneheads, i hope you will donate some to the family who hit you...They too are victims here, and will need many acts of kindness to get out of this horrible ordeal.

Fourth...Insurance companies absolutely should cover racing...it is unfortunate they don't...Most of the people who "street race" don't have enough money to bother with a lawsuit, or they just declare bankruptcy, leaving the victims to fend for themselves.

Oh, and if you can afford to wait at all, i suggest you wait for a rig with an elocker to show up, you won't regret it, and it'll save you a ton of money.

msw,

holy shizzle! that is quite a t-bone. glad that you survived.

as others have said, i highly encourage you to find a reputable, aggressive lawyer to go after the street racers and get what is due to you (whatever that is). if you can afford it, work off a retainer and NOT contingency (percent of your judgement). that is the best way to maximize your settlement. just make sure to keep a tight rein on your attorney, how he bills, in what increments, etc. if you have quesitons, PM me---i used to work in legal billing.

personally and as selfish as this might come off, i would not be concerned with other people involved in the accident at this time unless you are called upon to do so (i.e. ordered by a court). you have enough things to worry about (you). you can deal with the other accident victims when the time is appropriate and when it is convenient for you.

and worry about your next vehicle AFTER your settlement, if possible. you will probably have more to spend on something you want vs something you might settle for at this time.

Bob: Our family lawyer is also (one of a few, im sure of) Jerry Jones' family lawyers, and he is a hardass indeed. He has handled the case so far and will continue to do for whatever we need his representation for. I have not talked to, seen, or made contact directly with anyone involved in the accident. I am only vaguely aware of their plight and they have my sympathy. I wish i had the luxury of waiting for the private settlement to close before buying another truck, but Im tired of paying the $60 a tank to fill up the rental z71. I am going to be able to buy a suitable replacement truck, so the rest will be gravy (aka mods for the truck.)

or find an inexpensive beater that gets good gas mileage. Hold out until you have the $$$ and can shop for what you want. OR trade the z-71 in for a Toyota Tercel or Corolla. Hell, even a Taurus would be better

Hi MSW
Thank God your OK. That was a brutal hit. I hope the "racers" have a good life and you get what you deserve. I also hope that the Hispanic family is compensated as well. I hope they don't get the shaft because of their indescretions. Good Luck on finding a new vehicle. But remember that you have been blessed in walking away from this. Return kindness to someone else and keep it going.

You know, it's funny you say this. I too get pissed as things of this nature. People take it as a form of road rage though. That gets me too. There's a big difference between road rage and getting pissed at careless, pathetic, sorry excuse for a human endangering others lives.

I dont feel like studying, so i guess I will update yall... The summary of the accident attached to the police report says something to this effect:

The honda was visiting some girl that lived in the neighborhood on the street they turned from onto Davis (the highway i was on.) When he was leaving, he pulled out in front of the old man in the BMW and it pissed him off. So the BMW was riding his ass etc in the neighborhood and he said that he saw the honda run an additional stop sign before he came to the intersection. When they came to the intersection, the honda stopped and the bmw pulled within an inch of his bumper and offset to the left. The driver of the honda advised the officer that he had a manual and was afraid he would roll back into the BMW if he let off the brake, so he just sat there. (this is fair, i suppose, the road by the stop sign is a steep grade) THe bmw got fed up decided to go around him, and the honda took off as well at that time. (when i saw them, the honda was infront, and the bmw directly behind him and 2" off of the hondas bumper, so there may be discrepancy in interpertation here on someones part, lol.) The driver of the honda said he never saw or heard any traffic. (ok lets see i have an SUV, xenon-esque blueish lights, and exhaust....hmm...not to mention there were several cars around me) The opinion of the officer is that they were busy paying attention to each other, and not thru traffic.

This makes more sense than an old man racing in a 1988 BMW, I think. The old man saw the accident and saw the honda take off, and decided to follow him to record his license plate. He later came back and gave a witness account to the officers. He also went to the house from which the honda initially cut him off and advised the occupants that he had caused an accident that night that he left that house, and that the police were looking for him. I was shocked when I looked over the witness list on the police report and saw the same name as one of the at fault drivers...

This is just FYI, I have legal counsel and he is dealing with it. Thanks for yalls care and concern. You guys are the bestest!

So you almost lost all not due to "street racing", but rather due to "road rage", huh?
