leaking transfer case.... fixes?
hey all,
my xfer case has been leaking for awhile now... average 1-2 drops of fluid per day... dealer diagnosed it about a year ago.... the service tech then recommended i just live with it..... but now, i'm getting tired (mostly embarrassed) over the oil spots i've created in the street and driveway of my new house...... trying to clean up the spots is also getting tiring....
so i'm seeking what the easiest fix would be, short of moving or buying a new car/truck .... i was told the seals of the tranfer case need to be replaced.... i have seen a kit sold with all the seals for the transfer case....
which is easier, replacing the seals or replacing the entire transfer case? i have some reservation with replacing it with a used transfer case as the used one might be just as bad or worse...... but, which is easier and/or more cost effective?
also, any reccomendations on shops in the san diego area to have this service done and approximate costs
finally, i'm open to any other suggestions for a fix.....
btw.... its a '93 V6 4x4 automatic with ~130K miles on it.... i'm the original owner and it's currently my daily driver
thanks to any and all responses
