Landcruiser ARB's on a 4Runner?

Hi folks. I have come across someone selling both front and back ARB bumpers for a Landcruiser FJ62 (he didn't specify year, but I think all years 80-89 are the same). I am considering getting them, if they can be modded to fit my 4Runner ('96).

Does anyone know if the fitment would be close (or fairly close) on my truck? (ie. overall bumper width, height, etc). I have access to a torch and welder so small mods would not be an issue but if I would have to completely re-build the bumper than obviously it wouldn't be worth it.

I know the front is a winch bumper. (2 possible choices). The ad says the back bumper is ARB as well (w/ built in reciever hitch and tabs for shackles), but I can't find the correct bumper for the FJ62 application.

Any insights would be much appreciated. thanks a lot.

I have requested pics and a couple measurements from the seller, hopefully it'll be mod-able.

Not to hi-jack my own thread, but any interested buyers for your rig yet, MillerKPA?

fj62 are 87-89 they are the Auto fj60. I think they will not fit with out a ton of fab work. I think you would be better off starting from scratch or with beat up 3rd gen bumpers

i have to agree, i would wait until you get measurements and pictures of mounting, etc. i don't even know if the frame extensions are the same that is where you would run into problems i would think.

and i'm in the middle of negotiating with some lady in atlanta, she pulled the kbb price on me and i slapped receipts of almost 8500 in parts back at her so we'll see what happens, selling it isn't my main priority so i won't be low balled on this, it's either my way or no deal..thanks for asking man

You might want to post on ih8mud to get some dimensions of the bumpers. I'm guessing you will have to do a ton of mods to get it to fit.

We used to have an FJ-60 like that, it was an 89. The thing was pretty darn wide. I would say even if you got it to fit, it would look really funny.

I wouldn't even bother. The 60/62's are much wider than the 4Runner, and if you did make it work it would just look ridiculous IMO.

Here is a link to pics of front bumpers for the FJ60/62's, found it on "ih8mud.com" as suggested. I found the dimensions of the ARB for the old FJ60, those babies are 70" wide and a whopping 24" tall. I hope the one for sale from the FJ62 isn't that tall (apparently there is a "NEW" and "OLD" ARB style for these rigs.
One thing I noticed, these don't have any wings on them at all, but it doesn't seem like it would be too bad to build them.

It might look a little tall and out of proportion, but that's ok. What's the cardinal rule to live by: "Bigger is better". yeah that's right, I said it. So it might not look too big on top of 6" of lift and 36" tires. I can't find any pics of the frame/bumper brackets though (for comparison).

By the time you get the 60 series bullbar to fit and look even half decent, you could have built a new one instead. ARB bullbars are specifically designed for individual vehicle models. With only one or two exceptions, no bullbar from one model will fit another, and ARB probably has nearly 100 different models.
I could list all the characteristics of the bars that differ to make each one fit the vehicle lines and style but it would be a pretty long list.
I strongly recomend you don't go down this path, the effort certainly wont be worth the results. Basically, you'll end up with the ugliest 4Runner in the northern hemisphere.

This link to ebay in australia shows a side view and inside view of the bar.

Ok, thanks everyone for the feedback. Based on the fact that I would prefer to not have the ugliest 4Runner in the northern hemisphere, I think I'll pass on those bumpers. I am more than capable of building an ugly 4Runner using dozens of other means at my disposal, so no point in having bumpers that put me totally over the top and eliminate all doubt.
