Lack of 1996 4runners on the market?

I did a search for 96 4runners around here on autotrader, and came up with a whopping 2, one with 104k for 11,000 and an auto (looking for a stick).

Why are these things so rare?! There's about a million 90-95s sitting on lots...the only reason im looking for a 96 is the 3.4L, and I have just about enough saved to cover one (say about 10.5k)

its because you want to find one..........some kind of variation of Murphy's Law

i know that when i looked for a 2nd gen 4runner for my wife i spend forever trying to find a good deal on one (actually just to find one worth buying).............of course about a week after we bought one i see them for sale around every street corner for less money and in nicer shape.....

just be patient and you'll find that good deal you're looking for........

Just keep looking, i looked for about three months, and finally found a 96 with 84K on it V6 5speed, SR5 in cherry shape from the Original owner for 10K. and he only lived 10 miles from me. I found mine on Yahoo autos.

Don't limit yourself to looking just in the autotrader. My wife and I were looking for a 96 V-6 5 Speed last January - it took us about 4 weeks and we ended up finding one on Ebay! Luckily the seller lived about 2 hours from us, so after contacting the guy, we drove up and took a look before we committed. It only had 63k miles on it and was in beautiful condition - just to be sure we took it to a shop and had them look it over - they though it was a later model because of how great it looked.

Make sure you have the money (or financing) already set up - that will allow you to move quickly when you do find a good deal. Try autotrader, autonation, and ebay (just to name a few) online, scour the local papers, check the dealerships, and you will come across something sooner or later.

Just remember when you DO finally find what you're looking for, don't be afraid to walk away from the deal if something is sour. You can always find something similar. Be patient and keep looking.
