Keep blowing brake lights
i keep blowing break lights in my truck, both sides .i put a meter up to both sides and the reading where 12.3-12.5 nothing out of the ordinary all the grounds are good too. also when i tow a trailer only the running lighs come on i traced that problem back to this small box that is tapped into the tail lights to give power to the trailer plug. This box is not giving power to the trailer brakes and turn singnals. could this small gray box that is broken be the cause of my brake light bulbs blowing
i have 96 2.7l tacoma
thanks

I believe that's your "converter". Converter burnout are pretty common. Foreign vehicles with separate turn and tail lights need them to be compatible with domestic style trailer lights. You should be able to get a generic trailer light converter for less than $25 at Kragen or the like. If yours is a Toyota factory converter, unplug it from the harness and then on the new generic one, tin the stripped wire ends enough to make them fit into the female ends of your factory harness (if you don't want to just lop out your factory connectors)
