K&N off ebay.. No air box insert??

Ok, so I bought a K&N filter (the 33-2054) designed for the 3rd gens and whatever else on eBay. I got it pretty cheap, only $20.00 including shipping. When I got it I realized there was no air box insert piece, the piece that actually makes the K&N fit in such the big spot the factory filter came out of. Is there anywhere I can find this piece or did I waste my $20 bucks? Anyone else been in this situation? I might just have to fab something up if I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for any help.

JW

by the way here is a picture of what I mean...

you can see the backing part that sticks out, that is what I need.

Did the ebay listing say it was suppose to come with one? Thats a pretty important piece. You might have to contact K&N directly

well, it is my fault bc it said in later added info that it didn't have the air box insert but I had already bid on it and didn't actually think I was gonna win it at only $12.00. No big deal if I can't find this piece cus I can fab something up. It just sucks cus I expected to put it in and go. Guess not. Looks like I'll know what "No air box insert" means for a next time haha

You'll definitely need that piece to make the filter fit. Like was mentioned above, contact K&N directly first. If that route doesn't work, I have a K&N filter with that piece sitting in my garage I'd be willing to sell. I did a cold air intake and don't use it any more.

Thats going to be a tricky piece to fab because there is inlays in the filter that the frame sits in. I'm not saying its not possible, it just isnt going to be that simple. Also if you do fab something up, just make sure it works well..you don't want to risk your motor!

Those girls who sound really hot on the phone rarely are good looking.

Good Deal!!! Now all you have to deal with is the next guy that post on this thread saying "K&n filters suck & you should just do a deck plate mod"! You know its inevitable

Sounds like you're all set and that K&N definitely helped you out.

Reminds me of the Beavis and Butthead episode where they call the 1-900 number and have the ugliest woman in the world put the phone by her butt all night. Of course, she sounds hot on the phone...not so much in person.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but......

Look at how many are "K&N" related. I wouldn't touch another one with a 10 ft. pole. It messed up my oil analysis in the past, too. And since then, I stopped using it. Just FYI.
