Just got a 13k offer on my 4Runner
Folks, I need some advice here. I just got a $13,000 offer on my 4runner and am inclined to take it. But I've done a lot of work to it and think it is worth a little more.
Bring on the advice!

I'd say it's a good deal and you can't expect to get much more unless you're lucky. I was able to get the Taco in my sig for 13k and it's newer/has possibly comparable stuff, just think about that...

The 4Runner has 88k miles.
With two young kids (15 months and 3.5 years) I'm thinking fuel economy and so the Scion Xa is my choice. Yes it is laughable.
I'm hurting here. The Scion will be half the fuel cost per year. Oh to be really rich.

The reality is the mods don't add a lot to the value to the general buyer and with 4th gens going into their 4th year the 3rd gen's resale has taken a hit over the last year but $13k is a decent offer but you could hold out for a while longer.

I would take it and run.
FWIW, I sold a 1997 Limited last May with a lift and manual hub conversion that was in extremely good shape for its age for $9100. It did have high(er) mileage but had been impeccably maintained. That being said I sold it at a time that was a really soft market for 3rd gen 4runners, they seem to have really come back on strong in the last 6-8 months. However, I doubt you will get another REAL offer for $13,000.
I am not trying to take anything away from your truck, because it is one of my favorites and I honestly briefly considered putting my Taco up forsale when you posted it, but you are at a point where a lot of buyers wouldn't be able to finance it due to age/mileage and the fact that your asking price is probably $5,000+ over it's book value.
If you are serious about selling it I would take $13,000 and run!

Thanks for the compliment on the 4Runner, I will miss it, but I can always get another one (stock) if I can't stand the Scion.

You don't drive that many miles if your truck only has 88k on it... You will save some in gas costs, but is it worth it? I'm guessing you're are under 12k miles per yr. If you get 17mpg @ $3.00 gal = $2,117 per yr in gas costs. With a Scion you'd be doing great @ 30mpg @ $3.00 gal = $1,200 --- Total difference = $917 per yr
But that's only part of the costs... With a new Scion, you're also paying much higher $$ in depreciation, plus higher insurance. In the end, you might save some money, but it will be much less than $1000/yr. Divided out over 12 months, it really isn't much savings. It would seem there would be other ways to save $75/month...
Sweet truck! Best to you.
