I did notice a quicker throttle response from a stop. I am very pleased about that. seems louder, but not any faster. I didn't reset the computer or pull whatever fuse that I've heard about. would that make a difference?!

Yeah, I only notice it when I first step on the gas, there is less hesitation. At this point, I am aiming for better gas mileage. I think my next step is an ignition system. Any reccomendations? And does my 01 4R have an intake silencer? I heard they exist, but I don't know where to look. thanks!

Your stock ignition is pretty good. Coil-on-cyl is a very efficient design. Don't waste your money unless you start pushing enough boost to "blow out the candle."
Yes, you have an intake silencer on your 01. It is actually a fully replacable assembly midway down the intake pipe. You can replace it with a straight pipe and some barbed fittings (if you need them) for a bit better throttle response. Warning: when you pull the intake silencers, your open deckplate intake sound at WOT gets really loud. Too loud for some.

Ignition systems upgrades are a little over rated when you already have the coil pack design like Christian stated;my 1st gen Eclipse had the same type of setup and I was pushing almost 20psi on the turbo and the stock ignition had no issues whatsoever so even a SC'd Runner would never likely need one.

J/K Christian .....I agree with both you guys, stock ignition is more than adequate.

I have this exact setup (deckplate with amsoil filter) and i really noticed the power difference (up over 3.5k rpm's), unfortunately, i have yet to get a gas mileage increase because the sound at WOT (wide open throttle) is so sweet. I've been getting aroudnd 19 to 23mpg... i was about the same before the mod, with more conservative driving habbits.

I agree the stock Toyota ignition system is great, but I threw on a set of Nology plug wires and It definitely runs stronger. SOmething to think about. Don't know if they make em' for 3rd gens

Try putting the plate back on and you'll feel the diff. Feels like somethings holding the truck back. You have to push the gas a little harder to get the same response.
