jury-rigging extremeaire compressor
I've got an extremeaire hardmount I've never gotten around to setting up, but I want to have air available this weekend. I don't have the time to figure out the mounting, get all the parts, move stuff around in the bay and all that to do it right.
What I want to do for right now is grab the parts needed to be able to use it as a portable. I don't have a tank (well, I don't have *anything* but the compressor right now).
So what I think I need is a way to get power from the battery to the compressor leads, a polyurethane air hose, and a flow through air chuck so I can leave the compressor on as I move from tire to tire.
I remember seeing a picture of schaefer (?) using his this way, but I can't remember where I saw it.
I've thought about going as primitive as using my jumper cables (6g) as the power link from the battery to the compressor; not sure if that's a good idea or not, even for a quick hack job. It would give me an easy "on/off" switch though.
So what do you folks think I need to do this? Am I on the right track? Better way to do it?
Thanks!

at least amke something a little more permanent.. even if that means just getting some wire and using crimp connectors to eyelets to the battery..... thats just plain ghetto....

and here I though just plain ghetto would be mounting the compressor in the middle of my hood and pretending it was a blower intake!
I do need some kind of on/off capability and want to be able to remove the setup for the 99% of the time I'm not using it. A quick-ish disconnect of some sort.
I suppose I could run some 4g leads from the battery to the cargo compartment with an inline switch on the positive line, but I'd still want a disconnect. Any other thoughts?
EDIT: What else do I need to worry about on the air side of the equation? Since I'm not using an air tank yet, and thus don't have a pressure shut off in the system, will a flow through chuck take care of making sure the compressor doesn't have a coronary when it's not actually filling a tire?

You could do an in between step like I did and mount the compressor into a tool box, then build a proper power cord with a quick disconnect on one end and aligator clips on the other. It keeps the compressor protected and is a little less ghetto than what you are describing, while still being portable and not truly hard mounted...
