Jumping The Gun

Well guys I suppuse i jumped the gun with the SAS question, and apologies to the hot-blooded user named "Randomness" for feeling insulted, but I guess I'll throw this one out.

I have an opportunity to buy a '90 Toy P/U 22RE with 180,000 miles that is in good visible shape, no rust, never wrecked, half-decent interior, with new tranny, from a close, trusted friend. No pics yet and I haven't driven it, but i've seen it and it is quite nice. What do you guys think? Does it sound like a good deal? Any tips on what to look for(rust in certain areas, noises, etc.)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 22re tends to be a noisy engine sometimes, not really anything you can do about it. Look for rust above all the wheel wells and at the gas door and on the bed. be sure to make sure there are no bubbles in the paint.

How many miles on the tranny, is it rebuilt or brand new?

I was told there are approx. 30k on new tranny.

Bubbles in paint? There are some on the rearward section of the bed. I didnt see them but its what im told. They are just spots of rust *under* the paint, right? Do you think i can just wire-wheel them down and then primer them? Im not going for aesthetics if i buy it.
thanks chris

I'm not overly sure what you can do about the bubbles in the paint as yes they are indeed rust under it. I know they can get pretty bad if you don't take care of it, but what exactly could be done about it is beyond me.

Maybe someone will chime in here with some ideas.
