Jardine Exhaust...Too Loud?
Well, I went all out and got the exhaust for my 99 Runner. Is it me, or is the exhaust a little too loud?? I like the sound of it...but it's just loud. Is it just me, or does anybody else with this exhaust have the same feeling??

It went on in about 20 minutes. The old one took about 30 minutes to get off because I tried to get the 2 rusted bolts off for about 15 minutes. I finally took my sawzall to it. Its 2 pieces, and it goes on very easily. One thing I will tell you, is drop your spare tire....it gives you alot more work to get in there. I actually am used to the sound, and it is a deep throaty V6 sound. I got an amazing deal on it, so I think I'll keep it.

Well, it's loud while heavy acceleration, but at highway speeds it doesn't drone at all. Its relatively quite at idle. I have an older sony camcorder, but I don't know how great the mic is on it. I'll have to try it out. I paid $50 (Not a type-o) from a guy who had it on his truck for just a few weeks, and then sold his truck. He threw his stock back on. So, I'm pretty stoked about it. Give me a few days to try it out.

I bought the 2.5" x 18" Magnaflow (4" x 9" 18" Body 2-1/2" C/O 11256). There is a slight drone at 60 mph, but not too bad (not enough that my wife complained or even noticed). If I turn off OD (at 60mph), then the rpm's increase, and the sound decreases. Also, it actually gets quieter at 75 mph as the rpms increase a little (similar to running in 3rd at 60mph).
Overall, I have been happy so far.
BTW, I bought mine on ebay for $73 with free shipping from PerformancePeddler and received it in 2 business days.

If you go to the link for the muffler page, my sound is very similar to TSTango's 24" clip. It is nowhere near as loud as his 14" clips.
I will see what I can do next weekend (travelling to visit Mom...).

I really like the sound. I had mine installed this weekend and was reminded of the days when I had a V8. There is definately a "drone" sound 2000-2500 RPM's, but a small sacrifice for better throttle response. I think after driving a stock runner awhile you get used to not hearing the exhaust at all. It will take some time to get used to the new sound, but in time you will probably stop noticing it. So far I am very satisfied with the Jardine exhaust and would recommend to others.

jardine exhaust noise
I like the jardine exhaust for performance. if it were just me, I would keep it. my wife thinks it's too loud though. it guns on the highway, lots of power. customer service is fantastic.
has anybody combined a jardine exhaust with a magnaflow muffler?
I am debating between an 18 or a 24 inch body and if you have thoughts on which would match the jardine that would be great.
the jardine tubing is 2.25 inch, but magnaflow doesn't make 2.25 30"total mufflers...is it possible to fit a 2.5 muffler on the 2.25 jardine exhaust, or would you recommend sticking with a 2.25 muffler?
