Maybe it will take a little time for me to get used to the new body style Toyota has decided to implement on the new 4Runners/HiluxSurf.
I still like the "old" style URL=http://www.geocities.com/Baja/4300/special.html]Hilux Surf[/URL]
of course, that is my personal opinion

I agree dukestr.
Despite the fact that I have been receptive to the new design I still have to admit that the look of the 3rd gen still has an edge.
But when I compare my 3rd gen to other 4X4 my neighbors have it seems that the "squarish" look could make the 4Runner outdated pretty soon. My truck is very very nice but when I compare it it seems that the design is now aging (nothing wrong with that unles you are into new things....). Lets remember that the current model dates back to 1996.
I will have to see it in person. I have reserved mine already at the dealer but I will back out if it looks uninspiring in person.

I think much of the problem is the two-tone colour we have seen on pictures of non-Limited models.
The flares are big and not the best looking either. So if you accentuate their presence by using high-contrast colors (green-silver or silver-charcoal) the flares jump in your face.
That's why I really like the blue Limited from PaulS pics. The flares are there but they do not detonate.
I hope that non-Limited models will have a more reasonnable choice of matching colors (if we have to pick two tones).
When I ordered my SR5 V6 Sports Edition it said Titanium Silver (1D4). No mention of other colors unless the 1D4 is automatically matched with a contrasting color for the flares.
Maybe I should start considering a second job to afford the Limited

From the front it looks like a Pathfinder. Other than that, I think that it looks pretty cool. Looks super neat, but I think I like the American one better! I would get the 4Runner before I would get that! :fireman:

The picutres are very interesting.
It's funny how our tastes influence the rest of the world. I think overall
consumers still decide by l demand.
What do you think that piece on the hood
is? It looks quite intrusive. I'd knock that
sucker off in no time. The best idea anyone ever came up with is movable
side mirrors.
It looks like Toyota is putting a lot of thought into details on the outside of the new models. I hope there is as much detail on the inside too.

cpw2002,
The "piece" on the hood you were referring too is another side mirror. The HiluxSurf shown on the pic is a right hand drive (definitely Japan!). I have seen 4Runners on the road here at Northern Cal with this side mirror installed. It actually looks cool!

Thanks dukestr for pointing that out. I
had to go back and take a second look.
I never gave a thought to the right side driving thing.
I really don't want another mirror to keep up with. It takes time away from my stereo.
