Jacobs Ignition Uprgades
I was surfing www.performanceproducts.com and I've found these Jacobs performance ignition uprgades for my rig. Does anyone have them? Is it worth it? Was it hard to install?

I have used them in the past on 2 older vehicles before 1987. Made a noticable difference in how the engines ran and increased gas mileage, too. Not hard to install, only a couple of wires to connect.

You should notice better throttle response as you get higher in the RPM range, as well as improved torque all around. I'm talking about the Jacobs Pro Street system, though. What it does is senses your throttle response through the stock coil and sends that signal to the Jacobs computer. Then the computer tells the Jacobs coil how much juice to give. In other words, the more throttle you give it, the hotter your spark will be.
The main pain with the system is finding the right gap for your plugs. This can only be done through trial and error. Jacob's says to gap to .052", but I found mine worked best at .058". Since every engine is unique, there's no way to tell you what gap you should use beforehand.
I don't think it's worth the price brand new. If you can find a used one in good shape, you might wanna try it out. It's really easy to install... the hardest part being finding a place in the engine bay.
Oh yeah, their plug wires work really well with the system, but the connector will pull out of the boot just about every time you try to disconnect it from the plug. This might just happen to me because I have headers and the extra heat might be too much for the wires. Regardless, I think I'll be popping for some Magnecor wires soon.
