well, if you sold off the oem parts.... r u $5-6k into it with aftermarket after you subtracted what you made on the oem or is it 5,6k minus what you got for your oem? just asking, don't really need an answer but that might help you adjust your math.

My 4Runner is paid for, my grandpa bought it for me when I graduated high school and I wasn't even aware at the time that I was even getting a new vehicle, hell I was happy with my 98. But yeah if I were to trade it into a dealer all of the customization would hurt the trade in value, that's why I've got it on auto-trader, and I plan on putting it on vehix and cars.com I know there's a large crowd out there that likes blinged out street vehicles like I've got, so I know it will get noticed but I'm sure hoping I can at least get more than 17k out of it...

Whats your KBB value for excellent condition? Really, 6k in mods? If you have all the receipts, and can prove you spent 6k on mods, then half that and add it to excellent condition on KBB. This is your HIGHEST price. I'm in the car biz, and I know there are a lot of variables, and lots of people with money, and yada, but, thats just a good ROUGH estimate on what you could get.

I did the KBB value and I believe it was around 14k a while back... I don't have receipts for the mods but I can provide links to where I purchased most of everything on my 4Runner.

You should ask a mod to kill this thread and wait until after the sale to talk about worth. Let a possible buyer decide the value, as they may come across this for some unfortunate reason. Sounded like you were already down to 17K...? Every effort helps when you want to max your chances. Lower your posted price and people may dig deeper for discount knowing you are desperate.
My .02 is to keep a steady price and just wait; you have little to lose.

Personally i will keep my 2000 forever, I saved up and was able to pay CASH for it so it is paid off. I like it and it starts everytime.
Plus insureance is pretty cheap for it. I plan on getting an RX7 or MR2 in the near future (read as, soon as i find a good deal) To save on gas and for a fun car. And at some point an old Bronco or 1st gen 4runner for a trail rig.
But you may only want/need 1 car and getting something new might be the best bet.

well.. if you found a cheap set of tires you could buy my stock 5 spokes, they are in the for sale section here. then you could sell the wheels on ebay for a lot more than you would get with them on the truck

the decision is really up to you man. you have a nice truck as it and its probably the best street version out there. i have never riden in a 4th gen but the look is now starting to grow on me and i got a broacher in the mail with the new urban edition on the cover and it looks even better so i could see why you'd wanna get one.
just remeber its what is gonna make you happy

Sell it and buy new, i would in a heart beat. The new 4Runner's and the packages offerd are just sweet.. even though the newer the 4Runner the less off road friendly the body angles are.

You can't go by what other people are asking,it's the actual price they get for it so pay attention to others in the cheaper range w/comprable miles since people will be just passing by the higher price listings if there's others priced well below yours and there's quite a few 4th gens with just a tad more miles down in the $15-18k range. 3rd gens at best are in the mid teens even with 50k on 'em and mods don't increase resale that much.
Even with an '02 the whole 3rd generation has aged a bit as we are almost ready to see a 5th gen Runner possible late next year.
I'd keep it since you've put some time into it make it yours and is there really a point to moving up to another 4Runner? Those '08s are nice tho'.

I mean no offense but you are never gonna get even close to 20K for your truck. If I may be so bold as to say that since you were given the truck you didn't hunt around and bargain shop and probably don't know how. You probably aren't a "horse trading" type so you don't know what others will pay. If you spent a good part of your life like me, buying and selling stuff. You would understand. Your truck just isn't worth that much on the open market.
