Interior Work 1991
1991 4Runner V6 SR5 4WD
I have owned my 4Runner since 1994 when I bought it used. I've put over 176000 miles on the odometer, replaced three tailgates, redone the interior once, installed new instrument lights, replaced the infamous antenna, replaced the windshield once, 4 cluthes, two head gaskets (bad dealer mechanic), and added one factory brush guard.
Six years ago I redid the interior with leather and new carpeting. The work was done by a local shop in Lexington KY. The leather job was excellent but their replacement carpeting was not so good. After a few years the gray color began to fade to a lime green. It looks especially bad around the center consol.
I'm looking to replace the interior carpeting with something that will take the wear and tear and not fade. My local Toyota dealer hasn't been able to track down the parts and he doubts they even carry it anymore. I would appreciate any advice on replacing the carpeting.
Also some other interior work in the pipelines I could use some recommendations for:
-heated seats,
-steering wheel leather
-cd player (I'm leaning towards the JVC chameleon)
-new weather stripping for the windows
-new consol armrest (mine is worn out and hurts the elbow)
thanks

Welcome to the forums Travis.
I bookmarked this site a few months back while looking for carpet for someone else.
Looks like it goes for $379.
For that price, it had better include the rear cargo bay too.
For the steering wheel, WheelSkin's makes the best covers.

I have info on my website in my mods section on the cover.
Very high quality, and I have had mine now for a few years.
All I do to it is put Lexol leather conditioner on it every so often.

noise
Thanks for the advice, i thought about rhino lining the interior but as i do a bit of interstate travel i want it to be fairly quiet. lately there's been a lot of wind noise from the rear but window seals all appear OK. I can't figure it out.

Armrest
You can get the armrest for the console at the dealer. I'm on my second one. BTW, if you put something too big in there and force it closed, it breaks the hinge. Just ask my wife, she's done it

small consol
About the only thing that fits in the consol is my glasses. Its too small for much else.
I just installed the forth clutch, I replaced the first one when I bought the thing at 30,000 miles. The previous owner was a bad driver.

A place that was recommended to me was accmats.com
I am looking to order my carpet from them. they have alot of choices when ordering carpet and look like a good reputable company. But this is looks. I haven't ordered from them yet I plan on sometime the first half of next year. I see their boxes come through ups every once in a while but I wouldn't imagine people would ship this stuff next day air.
