Installing new speakers today..
Finally today i'm attempting to install my new speakers to complete my sound system...got the door panels off and everything..but my mechanical friend had to take a break..had somewhere to go for a few minutes..
I got Rockford Fosgate's for the front and back..6.5's and 5.25's..can't wait to have them in and hear how it sounds...
Hopefully we won't run into any problems in the installation process...

Rockford...another great audio name. I have a Rockford Fosgate amp sitting here with nothing to do. I bought it years ago and used it to power 2 x 10" Alpine subs. It did surprisingly well and I'm hoping it still works so I can use it for audio upgrades next year.

For future reference...
I thought the front speakers were supposed to be 6.5's...however it now seems apparent that they're supposed to be 6's as i measured the old ones...i'm going to have to alter the 6.5's to make them fit...but in the end it'll work out..
I'm not sure if the same goes for the newer models..but definitely anyone w/ a 96-98 4runner wanting to get new speakers should keep that in mind..

Well the speakers are finally completed...and it was efinitely worth the time spent...it sounds awesome...succhhhhhhh an improvement. However it was no easy task..that's for sure. Altering the 6.5's to fit for a 6..and altering the 5 and 1/4's to fit for a 5...however in the end it worked out.
I also installed some new chrome washer fluid lights..to coincide with my black and chrome exterior..and blue lights up front...however the wires got ripped outta one of them (my firends fault)..so it turned out that only one worked..gotta get new ones..
Also put the cover on my subwoofer encloser so that it matches my oak interior..looks good..
Many hours of work...i love it..

Good job on the install. I am glad to hear that you are happy with it. There is nothing better than a great outcome from something you do yourself! Way to go! :fireman:
