i went to the dealer and picked up both bushings for 21 bucks. It's like a brand new tranny and mine has over 270,000

I'm in for a Marlin too

I thought I was going to need either a transmission or a clutch the trouble I was having with 1st and 3rd. Took my rig to the shop last week to have them diagnose the problem. They said the shifter seat was bad and the repair, including a tranny fluid change, was about $260. The parts from Toyota were $40.

Did some searching on YotaTech, found out about the Marlin parts and a link on how to install it. I ordered both parts for $18 shipped and recieved them last night. I decided to see how easy the install was and had it done in about 30 minutes at lunch time! Incredibly easy and infinitely better. The difference going into 3rd gear is amazing. Still got to have the tranny fluid changed, though. Can't do that on the street in front of my condo

I just ordered the tranny shifter seat and will fix that next week. Had I been thinking ahead I would have ordered it at the same time. This means a second job but it is so easy I'm looking forward to it

I am kind of bummed, though, that I didn't get the Marlin sticker that they said was included in every order... G'dang it!

man, i'm glad to hear that so many people are discovering how awesome the MC parts make your tranny feel. Now if only there was an $18.00 mod to get 20hp...

I was thinking of doing same to my 03 taco, but the question is whether at 104K the seat and socket even need to be done (it's certainly not sloppy). Just thought as long as I was in there. . .
How many miles on yours?

How did you guys get the lock collar (or retainer cap...whatever you want to call it) off?? No matter how hard I push down, it doesn't seem to move. Any tricks?

i know this is an oldish post but it was hard to do so i'll give my answer for anyone who searches. I used pliers to grip it and give me more leverge and pushed down on them. took some effort but you can get it and it make a world of diferance.

I was disappointed to find that the shipping to Canada for two small, light, cheap parts was over $40. I wish they had some cheaper shipping options for those of us not in a hurry to get 'em.
