Installed a 3rd row seat
My family is growing so I needed a way to keep the 4runner around instead of getting a minivan. Solution, a third row seat. My wife found littlepassengerseats.com where they make 3rd row seats for a variety of SUVs.
We bought the deluxe model with headrests, 2 shoulder belts and a lap belt. The quality is very high, OEM like. The only thing thats not perfect is the fabric is close but not the same. The 99 fabric was not available in the US so they couldn't get it.
My daughter loves it. Were taking a long weekend road trip at the end of the week so I'll know exactly how it works out very soon.
So far, they've got my vote. Just figured there are others out there in the same boat.

Kids sized.
Little passenger seats says you don't need to use booster seats but I'm going to check with the local authorities on that first.
Room in the back is not completely eliminated and the seat comes out relatively easily. We got a roof top luggage bag for making trips.

Thats cool, How did the seatbelts work? I thought seatbelts would havee to be hooked to the car in order to work properly and to engage with sudden stops.

Yes, all hardware comes with the seat and it takes a couple hours to install. I wasn't in a hurry so it could likely be done faster. Very easy.

So, what about the weight of kids in the back? My '97 bogs down to the bumpstops with one or two passengers in the second seat. Are your '99 springs tall enough not to bottom out?

Whoa, that doesn't sound right. I've had several hundred lbs in the back and/or on the hitch with no signs of bottoming out.

Nice.
Didn't toyota for awhile offer a third row seat when the gen 3 4runner first came out? I remember seeing that somewhere but don't remember where.
