I'm selling my beloved 99...
Well, after gas prices hit another record high, I decided that I can't accept paying such ridiculous amounts of money in gas every week.
So I decided that I'd sell my 4runner.
I really hate that.
I love it so much, but money wise, it's just not reasonable anymore. I bought it as a single guy who had nothing to do but mod it and go play in the dirt. But I since bought a BMW Z3 which begs to be modded, hooked up with a wonderful girl who has two kids, and I've treated them as pretty much my own. Private schooling ain't cheap, and neither are renovations, and now, gas.
I'm also selling the Samurai, BTW.
Various unexpected expenses on the house mean that I can no longer live with credit card bills over my head, and that pumping craploads of pricey gas into the Toy sure doesn't help clear them.
I'm looking at breaking even or having some money leftover after a trade. I'll try to stay in the Toyota family, but I despise pre-2001 Rav4s, yet they're the only ones in my price range right now...
A part of me will die when I sell this truck.
I hope something will happen and that I can keep the 4Runner, but short of a miracle, it won't happen.
I have to say though, even though I pretty much drifted away from this place when I joined bimmerforums.com, I have fond memories of the early days of 4x4wire with the old school crew who found their way here. I also have a thought for Phil Roemer, for those whose name will ring a bell.
I wish to thank you guys for everything you've done for me in the past, every bit of advice I've been given.
You guys rock.
And mark my words : one day, I will have another 4runner.

sorry to hear you have to sell your runner. consider the possible price of tickets and insurance increases due to modding the z3 against current and future gas prices. gas will come down, eventually. did i really say that?!
congrats on the special people in your life, must feel pretty good to have people that care about you! best of luck with your next vehicle purchase.

I've had the Z3 since late 2001, and I've only had two tickets since... one in a rental Cavalier and the other... yup, in the 4Runner!
It's a money pit, but a fun one.
As for gas prices, I doubt they'll ever come back down. Even if they do, it will not be enough for me to afford the way I live now.
I have to pay my share of our Costa Rica lot, we have to build a villa there so we can rent it and make some $$$. It's a big sacrifice, but 66' x300' of Pacific front property ain't too shabby.
