It sounds like fan blades on the radiator /shroud maybe??
just a thought.

Yeah I thought my motor had locked up a couple of months ago because, while driving - all of the sudden the fan shroud shifted, causing it to hit the fan. It scared the heck out of me. It was a quick fix with a sawzall.

Wow, that fix is going to be even easier than fixing an exhaust leak. Congrats.

Yea, better than I thought it would be!

Hey, Toyminator, you should check the bolts, too.

So how is the threading in the hole? It's kinda hard to see in there. Should I just take out one of the other bolts and match one with it, or get an origional bolt?

Thanks for all your help everyone!

It's gonne be nice when I can drive my baby to work, instead of our GMC Safari white cargo van. (Sad thing is- that van can smoke 90% of the people that realize I'm off the line faster than them, and they give it more gas and try to beat me. My pickup, on the other hand...)

I have another question- Would it be ok to drive with this leak? I have to go pick up 2 of my cousins from school, and they want a freind to get a ride, too, so I'd rather get them in my truck, which seats 4 people easily, than fit them in my 2 seat van.

Any problems driving for about 5 miles?

you can drive it. it will just be annoying it won't hurt anything. the bolt thread size is 10mm by 1.25 thread pitch. stock it has a stud with a nut you tighten down. they both fell out together. just get a regular bolt with a lock washer.

That just helped me so much. My uncle said he could get any size I needed, if I knew the numerical dimensions or something. Now I don't have to look through buckets of bolts he has lying around.

you will need it to be 30 mm long. a hardware store bolt mite not work since they have a 17 mm head and toyota uses ones with a 14 mm head. it mite not clear the manifold

bolt

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN IT! check the chiltons. If you over tighten it your screwed.... the head will have the be rethreaded........
take it easy and do it right the first time. any one have the torq specks I (THINK) it is 29ftlb but double check. Had the same problem with mine last year. ended up eventualy replacing the head (more than one stud was overtightened by the bonehead I got the truck from.
