Im A Moron!!!!
Just wanted to share my F-up over the weekend
I put new brake pads on my girlfreinds 99 4Runner yesterday.
Well I get it all back together, bleed the brakes and take it for a drive.
It seems fine except its ever so slightly pulling to the left when the brakes are on. and you can barely hear a slight roar on the pass. side when youre not on the brakes. Well it really wasnt bad at all so I bring it back to the garage and look over everything and I dont see anything wrong.
So we bring it to my house about 30 min away and it just doesnt seem right. It stops great but it still pulls ever so slightly and you can still hear the roar.
So I pull the tire off and see the rotor has DEEP scratches all the way around and one of the pads are on backwards!
WTF was i thinking!!???
So had to put a new rotor on it. $53

hehehe, so does that mean you're attracted to yourself??
My favorite stuff ups are when I somehow left my locking wheel nuts key on one of the nuts, which promptly vanished on a test drive around the block.... and I also forgot to remove my battery powered light from under the truck once. I wedged it in between the body and chassis, but during the test drive I heard a terrific smashing sound and saw the light disintergrate into a billion tiny peices in my rear view mirror.

I was out with a friend, right after he had his brakes replaced at a shop, and there were strange noises and vibrations. We stoped and looked under the car to find two caliper bolts missing, two loose and all of the lugnuts loose. Professional shop?

everybody has there--put a clutch in backwards on a hyundia (spell check) and left a quart of tranny fluid under the hood only to see smoke while driving. Pulled over to check things out and as soon as i opened the hood flames leaped out--took quite a few sodas to put it out.

Last summer, while in my '95 Toyota pickup, I was camping on Chincoteague and my radiator cap was leaking slightly. No new radiator cap could be found on the island or anywhere else convenient. So I cleverly bought a little rubber gasket at the hardware store and slipped that in place on the cap.
On the way home, the truck starts overheating. Turns out, the little rubber gasket I put on was the WRONG ONE. There are two on a radiator cap. The one I replaced stopped the 13 lbs of pressure valve from working. So, excessive pressure built up in the engine coolant, and all the hoses started slowly working their way off the engine and radiator, with coolant trying to steam its way out from every hose connection!
D'OH!

Recently when I replaced the inner axle seals on my 4Runner, I got the driver side completely assembled, it looked great, then I realized I had an extra part...a dust shield...had to tear it all back apart.

Well im glad im not the only one who does stupid stuff.
Heres another:
I had a 94 chevy p/u that I did a SAS on. I got everything done drove it out of the shop and gave it a bath, put a wrench on all the bolts to make sure I didnt miss anything. Aparently I forgot to check the lug nuts cuz after driving around for a while (on a 2 lane back road with no shoulders) The back tire and wheel came completely off the truck! What a ride! Luckly there was a parking lot for a cemetary straight ahead and thats where I ended up. But loosing a 35" tire definatly makes for a wild ride.
Now I use a torque wrench EVERY TIME!!!
