not toally sure about legality issues with HID's but i got some bi-xenon's (hi/lo) off of ebay about half a year ago. like em a lot but really want to do a retro and get some 99+ headlights (i have a 97). using the stock housing with the light being refracted (sp?) with the lens/glass is a real no no. i know, i should talk, being that im running this setup. i would do it, but with time/funds permitting. in the pic below u can see the sharp cutoff along the wall that projectors give.

glare is GREATLY reduced and even almost eliminated depending on what projector u choose to use, but the pic below shows how practically no light at all is present above the "cut off" line. also, theres no hotspots, just nice even light.

wanna see the difference? try doing these same scenarios in a dark place....up against a flat surface (wall, building etc...) and see how much of your light is all over the place. all that extra, unneeded and wasted light is what that illegal and dangerous "glare" is that blinds others on the road therefore making hid kits illegal

I hope you guys doing the HID retrofit are using D2R bulbs if you do not have projectors... I still have my old OE BMW set from my E39 when I went with McColluch 6000k on them. I even have the projectors from them as well but now that I have raised my car, I would blind the crap out of the people in front of me... Heck my halogens right now and shining right into their windows... :X

Those are the same lights i have in my truck and love them!! The city light makes a cool effet at twilight. They are bright and so far built well....worth the $15 bucks....

Just did another truck with hids. The 2003- 2005 4runner does great with these, and also 96-02, they work very well with the stock housings.

This customer had the brightest silverstar bulbs already in there, and these pics show just how much brighter cleaner these hid's are.

More pics on the site.
