I'm finally part of the club! Here's my introduction and progress thread...

Why haven't you SAS'ed it yet???
That price isn't too bad, the market up here sucks for buyers, I think you're price is still a little on the high end with all that body damage and all, and you bought it at a dealership that you work at? that is the best they could do? you should kick somebody in the crotch, I'm not saying they took advantage of you, but that is kinda one of the perks of working for a dealership: getting good deals on cars/trucks/motorcycles, but some places are different, the dealer I worked at would let people buy trade-ins for a small % above what they paid the customer for it
Hey, at least you got a yota, that all that matters, and if you are happy with it, and it's only got 128k on it, and it's got an e-locker, I would have passed on it because of the body damage (I am lazy and would never get around to fixing it, and then it would just bug the hell out of me)
just my .02c, welcome to the skinny wallet club
Oh, and for you nay-sayers, try to find a 2000 limited with 128k and an e-locker for less than what he got, and in the northwest, it'll be harder than you think

I honestly don't know why everyone is saying I paid too much. The comparable ones in good condition (no damage) are going for $11.5-$13k, and I'm replacing both bumpers with aftermarket stuff anyway Is the market really that different in other parts of the country? If so, consider yourselves lucky!

that'll buff right out I'm with most that you probably could have gotten a better price if you looked around a bit more, especially outside your immediate area. That being said, if you are happy with what you got that's all thet really matters. Keep the pics coming w/ the upgrades, I have been lax in posting pics of mine (99). If you are thinking lift I recommend Steve @ Sonoran Steel

When I bought the vehicle, it came with 4 like-new Avon Mud Terrain 245/75R16 tires with studs. The other tires that were on there were pretty much bald, so today I had Les Schwab mount the Avon's. I think it looks 10x better, though these are noisy and ride like (even for a mud tire with studs).

Get a lift, 35 inch tires all the way around, kc lights, lockers front and rear, roof rack, cold air intake or snorkel, optima battery, high ouput alternator for all your lights, high lift jack, winch, rip off the bumpers and replace with hard core ones and then were on the right track. hahaha

Oh no, I don't work at a dealer, not sure where you read that

The price isn't bad at all considering what you got, and where you got it, yeah you might have been able to get a better deal in florida, and then spent all the money you saved driving it up here, I'd rather not deal with driving across the country unless I have to
Yeah, the market is always going to be different everywhere you go, Northwest means higher prices, on just about everything, and people up here love Toyotas, I can't drive more than a few miles without seeing another truck just like mine, that's just the way it is,
people also can't understand why you have to pay 300k for a decent house up here, that's just the way it is, unless you want to live in a single wide out in BFE, oh and the only place with higher gas prices is LA

Nice score but take that thing to a tint shop and have them rip that nasty purple tint off and replace it with some good black stuff that will match. Plus you should totally find a hood w/ a scoop for it then it will be sweet.

Thats a sweet grocery getter . Nah, Its good. I dont really like the looks of modern suvs, but since you took the running boards off, its grown on me. Price seems steep, but that elocker adds A LOT of value to it, plus if your gonna get aftermarket flares and bumpers, then who cares right? Welcome and enjoy.

Sorry about that, I must have been on crack , or reading two threads at the same time (more likely)

I need to get the tint replaced, desperately. I'm going to have them lighten it up a bit as well, it's just not safe this dark at night. The hood will probably be one of my last modifications

Yeah, you can't bash others on price paid unless you know the market they live in. I just got mine this past Apr, and when shopping, there was a 2002 SR5 base model going for $25k. If it snows in your region, everyone trades in for 4x4 and puts a huge strain on the market.

Made quite a bit of progress today! My brother and I installed an ARB winch bumper and a Warn M8000 winch
It was quite the pain in the butt, but we did a real clean job. My vision for this truck is now two steps closer to coming true.
We started off by unbolting the front bumper. A bolt here, a bolt there; it was slow going. Finally, Mikey asked me if I was planning on keeping the front bumper. I wasn't, due to the poor condition. He runs to the tool room, only to emerge with a Sawzall, then proceeds to go to work tearing it off. His payment for helping me was lunch, so I figured he ought to be able to have some fun with it.
Front bumper removed, in record time.
I think it's pretty hilarious how the ARB manual says absolutely nothing about the fact that you have to cut the caps off the frame, especially considering it was probably the biggest part of the whole job. Instead of just grinding the flanges off, we opted for the plasma cutter.
We cut the flanges out in the shape of the frame rail, ground off the excess, welded the end cap portion of the flange all the way around to the frame, then ground the weld again, then painted it. It came out VERY clean.
Test fitting the impact absorbers.
Finally, after wrestling with it for an hour and getting it lined up as best we could, the project was complete. I'm VERY happy with the outcome; the difference in appearance is night and day. I'll try to get some outdoor shots tomorrow, as it was dark by the time we finished.

Lol, maybe
I'm not going to reveal my plans until they're already completed. Too many people come on forums talking about everything they want to do to their vehicles and all these great plans, but talk is all they do. I don't want to be one of those guys
