Illuminated Cup Holders

Has anyone thought about modding the cup holders to be illuminated? I was thinking about this the other day when I was trying to put a bottle of water back in the cup holder on my 2002 4Runner and kept fumbling around looking for the opening.

I was thinking a small LED placed in the center on the driver side would be great to illuminate it. This could also pretty easily be wire into the factory dash dimmer as well. Do it with a light green LED and viola, it looks factory.

Anyone tried something like this before I start looking into it myself?

Cool idea, I'd like to see that...though I usually just turn a map light on.

In process now

I've got something like this in the works...

The local autozone clearance bucket had a 12V Led kit that plugs into the cig. lighter.

I wired the LED directly to the 12V source in the HVAC lights so that I can dim them. Works.

I'll post pics shortly. Mine are blue and they match my speedhut cluster.

Ever wrap this up? I'd like to see your solution.
