I was told my double cab looks lowered yesterday :( new OEM springs or? to restore it
I ran into a guy I used to run around with yesterday in his 03 d cab pre runner, its bone stock but has every bit of 2" of lift over mine. I never really looked at my springs but my rears are frowning and my front end seems to hit the bump stops quite often! I was going to order some Bilstein HD's for it this morning but want to get some thoughts on springs. I don’t want to lift it, well no more than say an inch over stock and I want to do it right so no blocks or spacers. Any suggestions short of buying new Toyota leafs and coils to install with my new shocks? Any suggestions on shocks over the Bilsteins? I installed a set of them on my dad’s 02 ext cab TRD and it made a huge difference over the stock fake Bilsteins that came on it. My truck has Tokico shocks now, Im sure the rears are shot, it sways pretty bad at highway speeds. I have 2” rear lift springs on my 88 from Downey Offroad, too bad they went under, they held their shape for years even with hauling and towing! Anyone know who made them for Downey?

I'm not sure what rig you are talking about. Is your rig 2wd?
I own a 96 4runner 2wd and if i was looking into getting a slight lift, I would buy the 4wd coils online. It's new and cheaper by a long shot compared to the full OME.
I would look into doing something similar if I were you.

My truck is an 02 Tacoma double cab 4x4 TRD edition. My rear leaf springs are past being flat with the truck 100% unloaded, they look like they are frowning a little! I’m not sure about the front, it looks lower than my dad’s 02 ext. cab TRD that is bone stock except for the Bilstein HD shocks. I heard that the add a leaf springs will raise it up but make it ride pretty harsh, I like the way it rides but I seem to be on the bump stops on every dip in the road, I guess new shocks would slow the travel down down and might help keep it off the bump stops but to me, the springs are probably shot! When I get home this evening Im going to look online and see what I can come up with, I read that Eighbach makes lift springs for the front, but not the rear, I really don’t want to lift it, with say a 2 or 3” lift, I don’t need it as I don’t wheel it, I have my dirt bike for that fun, I just want to get the suspension travel back for the back roads of WV where I live!

I put 2.5 level lift spacers on the front and airbags in the rear with bilsteins
weak rear springs with just a little air works great
went from the droopydroor look to the prerunner look
way safer handling on the hiway too

This is my # 1 concern, right now at 70mph when you hit dips in the road, especially in a turn it wallows like a pig, my # 2 concern is how it looks, which looking at this picture, it looks fine, but next to a stock pre runner it looked low, my rear springs do look shot, they are not even flat, they are arched upwards like they are frowning! In this picture it looks OK though, perhaps its all in my head!

I didn't see one for the rear leafs but there is one for the lower ball joints.

BMcEL,
Do you happen to know how long the recall is in effect? Do those things expire? Just bought an '04 taco DB cab earlier this year. The thing rides and handles perfectly, but it only has 110k miles on it. I guess I should look into getting the ball joints replaced while I can get it done for free, huh?
