Cedarbarn...I would, but my 2WD probably would not do well.
We need to have like a 4Runner meet sometime at a nice place and admire each others machines. I would really like that.

3rd gen ECU's are limited to 108 mph and then it cuts you off back to 104. From my experience I find that I can't get past 100 without going downhill, just too much wind resistance under the car for the engine to handle.

Yeup, I can confirm that. I've hit the limiter on mine... on a flat road.

At 100mph you're exceeding the posted limit by at least 25mph and are a threat to public safety since only a few SUVs are even designed to go over 100hph safely and those still resemble cars a bit. It's one thing to be doing a 100 in a Corvette and another to be doing it in an H2 which I see alot of around here.

good luck beating anything other than a 3.4/3.8 6 cylinder 4th gen fbody car in a 4runner. I like toyotas and all, but the day my LS1 6speed SS gets beat by a four runner/tacoma is the day i sell it

My neighbor said that about my Eclipse beating his '02 SS in the 1/4;I whooped him by more than a second in the 1/4 and he's still driving it today but he knows better to say stuff like that cause you never know what's out there.

There are a couple of 4Runners that have 12s under their belts so but I'm sure youll never run across one of those.

Cuz we all know that the mark of a true sports car is a really high top speed.

That is exactly why you only travel high speeds on designated race tracks, which is no crime.

Anyhow, I find that the 4Runner can handle small direction changes pretty well, but any jerking will send you shakin'. To go totally out of control you need to shake it a little bit more though. The main problem I see with off-road designed SUV's (esp. with drums in the back) is that you need to be very careful when using your brakes at such high speeds, the car tends to shake violently at any low-medium brake pressure. In any way though, you are right, 100mph in an SUV is a risk to your life and anyone around you, don't do it unless you are on a race rack.

At one time, I did try to go to top speed 100+ on my 4Runner and it was scary. Very unstable, shaky, and unsafe. From that moment, I would never do it again.
Are you talking about the '02 you have in your sig? Especially at stock I wouldn't be able to imagine a 3rd gen being that bad. Maybe your wheels where out of balance?

Exactly but the majority of drivers, especially SUV drivers, never go to the track but still drive like wackos in the real world. I raced at the strip for over 10 years and SUVs just aren't raced in competition except for the rare few but the general public still will be doing dumb sutff in low performance vehicles no matter how many tracks are out there.

a lot of the firebirds top out at 110 as well.

the v6 firebirds/camaros are very slow vehicles. like 17 sec 1/4 miles slow

I got beat by a kid on his bicycle.....

its official 4hummer, I have added "chicken hawk" to my vocabulary, very nice!
BTW I have been scouring phoenix for those stupid compressors, I have yet to locate... Grrr bargain hunter getting impatient!!!

All- I have been rolling in mom's 04 runner, v6 (boo) but that thing is pretty quick, I bet I could spank a chicken hawk! I didn't think I could be converted to the Dark side (autos) but someday.... I better go get my truck before I get a ticket..
