I Got One

Hey guys, you may remember that I was around a bit this summer looking for advice on buying a 4Runner. Well. . . . I got a '98 supercharged Taco. Just a few questions about it. Is there anywhere on this site or anywhere else online that has a PDF owners manual for the truck? Also, the truck has like 99,700 miles on it. What is the interval for the timing (belt or chain?)? The previous owner (the original owner) has not ever had it serviced.

Thanks!

Kameron

Belt was originally 60K and now they are every 90K…
Change, it to be on a safe side.

K, thanks guys. Can it be done yourself? Im not a bad wrench turner, but a friend of mine lives for it. He would be more than willing to help if it was possible.

I have done mine.
It is not complicated just a lot of things to take off.
Biggest challenge for me was to get crank bolt off.
Do a search here and you can find write-up.

as far as .pdf manuals go, you can get the whole manual online HERE.
The only catch: there's a $10 fee. after that, you have full access to the site for any and all toyota/scion/lexus factory service manuals. i believe you have access for 24 hours, but when i tried it, they gave me 36! maybe it was the time i accessed the site (about 5pm).

I know they're also available on ebay... but legally you wouldn't have the rights to them....i think....yea, just sounds sketchy.

congrats on the purchase! don't get in too much trouble with that SC!
oh...and

Thanks. There is a little bit of damage beneath the left passenger window, and of course the usual off-road character, aka scratches. But she sure beats the HELL out of my old Ford Powerstroke. Yup, I am changing all the fluids this week and when I get home, I will have the water pump and timing belt changed.

you need to put some TRD stickers on that puppy. that'll immediately give you a 20HP boost.
