I'm betting the round thing is an air freshener.

Close...it's a Sharper Image mini air purifier. I have 2 of the bigger Ion air purifiers in the house. My kids have allergies. This small unit is supposed to remove dust and small particles from the air. Plugs into the cig lighter. Unlike the big brothers, you can't clean it. About time to replace it. 2 years old already. Looks like they don't make this model...new ones look bigger.

That is a pretty cool thing to have. Do you notice any difference or result of it? I mean can you tell if it does what it is supposed to? :fireman:

When taking the door panel apart, the only time you should need to pull hard is removing the bottom half of the door panel. Nothing else should be pulled hard or you will break it.

I might not be clear on what you're trying to remove. Which part is it exactly?

I am trying to remove the white control thingies which are connected to the window switches on the door panel.....if that made any sense at all.....the white thing I'm talking about has wires in it, i'm trying to remove them so that I can take the black part of the window control area and paint it silver, hope that clears stuff up... I can be confusing at times.

Sleepy, I just had mine out a few months ago when I replaced a switch.
I beleive you just have to squeeze the white part and it bends a tab out of the way and pops out.

Or I had to stick something like a screw driver into the tab so it would release.
But it should pop out fairly easy.

If one of my sons was here right now, I'd get a video for you of how it pops out.

I think I know what you mean now. On each of those white wiring harnesses, there is a tab you can press down while you unplug it. Like so:

Hi, I have a 2000 4runner sr5. Just wondering, I have seen some 2000 4runners out there that had stock silver dash pieces. If anyone has a 4runner with all stock silver dash components, can you please list, what is exactly silver throught the truck? I figure instead of having a week of no dash and annoying spray painting, I could order the silver parts from the dealer, or ebay. Thanks

This past week I had my dash out while waiting on a couple of parts and was noticing that the black on several of my vents were fading. The paint on the center piece that frames the radio is wearing thin also. Is there a high-wear paint I can repaint it with? Is there a dye I can use on the dash vents?

Yea for a while there i was starting new threads because I didn't have enough time to look, or too lazy, lol. Then I figured out that its pointless, cause most likely, your answer will already be out there. hahaha. Unless you are looking for specific help on your specific situation. If everyone posted a new thread for a problem they had, it unimaginable how many threads we would have.

You can order them from the dealer but they are pricy.

Sleepy added one of my dash kits a while back. Pics are in the webshots link in her sig.
